Ensuring clean water supply for rural areas during the hot season of 2025

It is forecasted that in 2025, heat waves will likely become more severe, and the demand for clean water in production and daily life of people in rural areas during the hot season will also increase compared to previous years.

The Center for Clean Water and Environment is currently managing and operating 73 rural water supply projects, providing water for over 26,000 households in 39 communes. With a large number of customers and a large area, while the demand for water during the hot season is higher than at other times of the year, the pressure on the Center to ensure adequate water quantity and quality is very high.

In addition, at some times, many centralized water supply projects often have local water shortages, affecting people's water needs. Another difficulty during the hot season is the lack of electricity, leading to unstable power sources for water production and supply. Power outages and voltage drops are likely to occur during peak hours, affecting the supply of domestic water to people.

To ensure the source of domestic water for people during this year's hot season, the Center for Clean Water and Environment focuses on strengthening management and implementing appropriate technical solutions such as regularly checking, maintaining and repairing machinery and equipment at water supply works; renovating and repairing the pipeline network, reducing water loss; directing specialized departments to assign technical staff to regularly monitor weather developments closely, determine the time when the water source ensures quality to proactively store water in reservoirs, and ensure sufficient water supply for clean water production in case of local water shortages.

At the same time, water supply zoning ensures the supply of domestic water to people in sufficient quantity and quality, especially in areas at risk of domestic water shortage; regularly control and monitor the quality of input and output water, promptly fix problems, and ensure stable water supply in terms of flow and quality to people.

At the same time, the Center proactively develops and signs plans for developing clean water supply for rural living with the People's Committees of districts, towns and cities, closely coordinates with local authorities in protecting the water supply system; regularly inspects, reminds and handles violations in water supply activities, especially cases that affect the water supply pipeline network according to the provisions of law.

The unit also coordinates with local authorities to promote propaganda and mobilize people to proactively use water economically, have measures to store water safely and effectively, protect the environment, contributing to reducing climate change in general and local water shortages during the dry season in particular.
