Specifically, Brazil (1.9 billion USD) and India (1.3 billion USD) accounted for nearly half of Russia's fertilizer export turnover, followed by the US - the country that bought fertilizer worth 890 million USD.

China ($632 million) and Mexico ($429 million) also made the Top 5 of the list.

Other major buyers include Türkiye and Kazakhstan, along with several European countries, including Germany, France and Poland.

According to data from the Russian Federal Customs Service, the country exported $19 billion worth of fertilizers in 2022, 1.5 times more than the previous year.

Russia is the world's largest producer of fertilizers, accounting for about 15% of global consumption. Western sanctions do not directly target Russian fertilizer exports, but restrictions have nonetheless affected exports, with deliveries expected to fall 15% year-on-year in 2022.
