Ba Lai 8 Bridge Project belongs to the coastal road route of Ben Tre province, which is of important significance for socio-economic development and ensuring national defense and security of the province, connecting smooth traffic between the province and the coastal provinces in the East of the Mekong Delta.
According to the Ben Tre Provincial Project Management Board for Investment and Construction of Transportation Works (the project's investor), the plan to organize the groundbreaking ceremony for the Ba Lai 8 bridge on the Ben Tre coastal road and to launch the project to build a coastal road connecting Ben Tre province with Tien Giang and Tra Vinh provinces is currently being urgently finalized by the provincial leadership.

The investment in the project will create a premise to promote the implementation of the construction of coastal roads in the provinces of Tien Giang, Ben Tre, Tra Vinh; including Cua Dai bridge (connecting Tien Giang and Ben Tre) and Co Chien 2 bridge (connecting Ben Tre and Tra Vinh). When completed, it will ensure synchronous investment and smooth traffic connection for the eastern coastal provinces, creating a driving force to attract investment in the construction and development of marine economic zones, industry, agriculture, high-tech aquaculture, tourism, and services for the coastal area of Ben Tre province.
The representative of the Traffic Construction Investment Project Management Board (the investor of the Ba Lai 8 Bridge Construction Project) said: The unit organizing the groundbreaking ceremony for the Ba Lai 8 Bridge has completed the design of the ceremony area such as the ceremony house, stage, waiting area, and groundbreaking ceremony. The contractor for package 2 (the main bridge of Ba Lai 8 Bridge and the access road to the bridge) is ready to mobilize machinery and equipment to level the ground, preparing for the groundbreaking ceremony.
The Ba Lai 8 Bridge Construction Project on the coastal road of Ben Tre province is part of the medium-term public investment plan with central budget capital for the period 2021 - 2025, and was issued an investment decision by the People's Committee of Ben Tre province.
Ba Lai 8 Bridge is 527.6m long, the main span structure is made of balanced cantilever prestressed reinforced concrete, design load HL.93; bridge width is 22.5m, road surface includes 4 car lanes and 2 mixed lanes. The access road to the bridge is 12.37km long; design speed is 80km/h; road surface includes 4 car lanes and 2 mixed lanes, roadbed is 22.5m wide.
The works on the route include: 4 simple-span reinforced concrete bridges, 2 intersections with Provincial Road 886 and National Highway 57B, cross-road drainage culverts and roads connecting to existing roads. The total investment of the project is 2,255 billion VND, divided into 3 bidding packages.
The leader of Binh Dai district said: The project to build Ba Lai 8 bridge on the coastal road of Ben Tre province passes through Binh Dai district in Thanh Phuoc commune. The district has prepared the site to hand over to the construction unit, the roads leading to the ceremony site in Thanh Phuoc commune have also been cleaned, the billboards and posters on the road have been replaced to create a beautiful look for the locality.
As of September 6, 2024, statistics show that 97 cases were affected, with a land acquisition area of 36.47 hectares/162 plots (17 plots belonging to organizations), and a route length of 10 km. The inventory of affected assets has been completed for 94 out of 97 cases. The District Investment and Construction Project Management Board, in coordination with relevant units, publicly presented the draft compensation and support plan (Phase 1) for 43 households/77 plots/7.2 hectares to ensure timely handover of the land to the construction unit.
The People's Committee of Ben Tre province has submitted a document to the Prime Minister, with the content of registering a working schedule and inviting the Prime Minister to attend and give a speech at the groundbreaking ceremony for the construction of Ba Lai 8 bridge and the launching of the coastal road construction project connecting Ben Tre province with Tien Giang and Tra Vinh provinces, expected in September 2024, according to the working schedule decided by the Prime Minister, at the same time Ben Tre province organizes the Ben Tre Investment Promotion Conference in 2024.
