Rural industries continue to play an important role.

On the morning of December 10th, in Ho Chi Minh City, the Department of Innovation, Green Transformation and Industrial Promotion ( Ministry of Industry and Trade ) organized a seminar titled "Innovation Solutions in the Development of Rural Industrial Products".

In the context of deep integration, the demands for quality standards, traceability, and sustainable development require rural industrial products to adapt more quickly. This presents both opportunities and pressures for change for small and medium-sized enterprises in rural areas.

In her opening remarks at the seminar, Ms. Do Thi Minh Tram, Deputy Director of the Department of Innovation, Green Transformation and Industrial Promotion (Ministry of Industry and Trade), stated that in recent years, the rural industrial sector has continued to affirm its important role in local economic development, job creation, promoting economic restructuring, and contributing to social welfare.

However, in the face of new market demands, especially regarding quality standards, regulations, and traceability, some green manufacturing facilities are now creating a need for small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) and other manufacturing facilities to undergo more drastic changes than ever before. This pressure is not a challenge but a signal that innovation has become a matter of survival, no longer an option.

According to Ms. Do Thi Minh Tram, in the context of a market imposing a series of new requirements on quality, standards, and traceability, production facilities, especially small and medium-sized enterprises, are facing unprecedented pressure to change. This challenge is no longer seen as a barrier but as a sign that innovation has shifted from an option to a survival factor, determining the ability of businesses to survive and develop in the new era.

“Innovation is becoming a key factor in helping businesses improve product quality and enhance the value of the story behind each product. At the same time, it is also a condition for meeting market standards and participating more deeply in domestic and international supply chains, aiming for sustainable development and adapting to the ever-evolving needs of consumers,” said Ms. Do Thi Minh Tram.

Transforming innovative thinking into concrete action.

At the seminar, delegates focused their discussions on three key areas aimed at promoting innovation in the development of rural industrial products.

Firstly, regarding technology and production processes : Green technology solutions, energy saving, automation, and circular production models are considered key to reducing costs, stabilizing quality, and increasing added value for products.

Secondly, product design and packaging: Beyond simply protecting the product, design and packaging today have become the "language of the market," determining brand recognition and positioning. The trend of using environmentally friendly materials also opens up a competitive advantage for rural industrial products.

Thirdly, digital transformation and building an innovation ecosystem: Solutions such as digital platforms, digital maps, traceability, data standardization, regional marketing, and supply-demand connectivity are considered essential elements for rural industrial products to enter a sustainable value chain.

Delegates also emphasized the importance of connecting technology and production, design and markets, as well as businesses, experts, and regulatory agencies. Transforming innovative thinking into concrete action was seen as an urgent requirement to create real change.

The opinions from experts and delegates at the seminar will be an important basis for the Department of Innovation, Green Transformation and Industrial Promotion to continue advising the Ministry of Industry and Trade on perfecting mechanisms and policies to support rural industrial enterprises, especially small and medium-sized enterprises, in the programs currently being implemented by the Department nationwide.
