Promoting e-commerce and digital skills for farmers.
On the morning of December 10th, at the 7th Conference of the Prime Minister's Dialogue with Vietnamese Farmers in 2025, Deputy Minister of Industry and Trade Nguyen Sinh Nhat Tan stated that issues related to the industry and trade sector, such as the domestic market, trade promotion, and e-commerce, had been promptly addressed and resolved by Minister of Industry and Trade Nguyen Hong Dien at the Forum "Minister of Industry and Trade and Chairman of the Vietnam Farmers' Association - Listening to Farmers Speak" held on October 1st. In addition, units of the Ministry of Industry and Trade provided detailed information on each proposal and directly supported delegates and farmers attending the Forum.

At today's conference (December 10), a topic of interest to many delegates and farmers was the implementation of e-commerce application solutions. Deputy Minister Nguyen Sinh Nhat Tan informed that on December 10, the National Assembly will vote to pass the Law on E-commerce with two important points.
The first is to improve the support mechanism. The revised Law on E-commerce will add many policies to support people, small and medium enterprises, as well as remote areas, which often have difficulty accessing the market.
Second are the mechanisms to promote trade development, including creating conditions for new trade organization models, suitable to current practices and development needs. These are contents that have a direct impact on the production and business activities of people and enterprises.
Regarding skills training, in 2025, the Ministry of Industry and Trade, in coordination with localities and businesses, especially e-commerce businesses, will organize more than 100 training courses for nearly 10,000 participants, including managers, business owners, cooperatives, production and business establishments, and student entrepreneurs. The training content will be diverse: entrepreneurship, personal branding, livestreaming skills, AI applications, digital business support, and e-commerce management. The courses are designed to be simple and practical, following the principle of "hands-on guidance" and "teaching farmers through practical experience in the field."
"Farmers themselves will be the 'livestreaming champions,' because they are the ones who directly produce, understand the products, and have authentic stories to share with customers," the Deputy Minister emphasized. Many provincial, departmental, and ministerial leaders have also participated in livestreaming, bringing positive communication results and demonstrating the strong spread of this model.
Expanding markets and increasing the value of agricultural products.
Regarding e-commerce development, the current growth rate is 20-25% per year, projected to reach US$30 billion by 2025, accounting for approximately one-tenth of total investment and consumption by Vietnamese people. Based on this, the Ministry of Industry and Trade is developing policies to support finance, technology, and training, and simultaneously implementing the E-commerce Development Program for the period 2026-2030. This aims to create a legal framework and synchronized mechanisms to help people and businesses expand their markets, enhance competitiveness, and increase the value of Vietnamese products.
Affirming that the Ministry of Industry and Trade always stands alongside businesses, especially local production and business establishments, Deputy Minister Nguyen Sinh Nhat Tan emphasized that, through close coordination with authorities at all levels, from province to commune, the Ministry aims to provide practical support to help farmers and businesses effectively exploit the potential of e-commerce, expand markets, and enhance the value of Vietnamese agricultural products.
In addition, the Ministry is focusing on developing training models and linkage mechanisms, and providing support from businesses, to enhance farmers' capacity. Accordingly, the Ministry of Industry and Trade is coordinating with localities to establish digital technology groups to share knowledge, provide technical support, and guide farmers in practicing online sales. The goal is to help farmers improve their sales skills and optimize business efficiency in the digital environment.
The Ministry also issued many policies to support farmers such as the national e-commerce development master plan for the period 2026-2030 to accompany localities and farmers to provide maximum and most practical support. Build models, training content, and link to support farmers.
The Ministry of Industry and Trade also proposed that the Ministry of Science and Technology deploy a community digital technology team model to provide technical support and step-by-step mechanism guidance, helping farmers maximize their sales skills.
The Ministry also proposed a mechanism to support localities in building dedicated pages or platforms for their distinctive agricultural products. Several models have been successful, such as Bac Ninh lychees or Thai Nguyen tea on digital platforms. Replicating these models will enhance the value, boost consumption of local products, and develop e-commerce in rural areas.
Policy solutions, skills training and e-commerce platform development are being implemented synchronously by the Ministry of Industry and Trade, aiming to provide maximum support to farmers and businesses in applying technology, improving business efficiency and expanding markets.
