The People's Committee of Binh Thuan province has just issued a plan to implement the National Program on Protection and Development of Aquatic Resources to 2030 in the province.
Accordingly, local authorities at all levels, departments, branches and functional agencies are required to thoroughly grasp and deeply understand the importance and value of natural resources, aquatic resources, biodiversity and sustainable ecological environment protection. Encourage and promote the socialization of activities to protect, regenerate and develop aquatic resources; organize information and widely disseminate to people about prohibited acts in aquatic exploitation activities, activities to protect, regenerate and develop aquatic resources.
The general objective of this plan is to conserve, protect, and regenerate aquatic resources in order to restore and use aquatic resources and aquatic ecosystems rationally and effectively. Managing and protecting aquatic resources goes hand in hand with sustainable fishing and combating IUU fishing. Thereby, raising awareness of the community and society about conservation, protection and development of aquatic resources, contributing to sustainable fisheries development, preserving biodiversity and biological resource values of Binh Thuan province. Proactively and effectively responding to climate change and rising sea levels; promoting green growth, improving people's lives and livelihoods, ensuring national defense, security and sovereignty .
The specific objectives will be to complete the investigation and assessment of aquatic resources in the coastal and offshore areas under the province's management, and the resources and habitats of aquatic species in the main rivers, natural lakes, and large reservoirs. Restore and increase the reserves of aquatic resources in the province's sea. 100% of marine reserves and aquatic resource protection areas in the province's sea areas are established, managed, and operated in accordance with the law. Manage, document, monitor, and evaluate a number of endangered, precious, and rare aquatic species currently present in the province such as sea turtles, corals, etc. Every year, at least 1 million aquatic species of all kinds are released into aquatic environments; 100% of districts, towns, and cities organize activities to release aquatic resources into coastal areas and reservoirs, water bodies, and natural waters in the province.
By 2030, coastal districts, towns and cities with suitable conditions will be able to organize co-management models in protecting aquatic resources associated with developing marine aquaculture, building new rural areas and eco -tourism, contributing to improving livelihoods and raising the living standards of coastal communities.
