From the 2023-2024 school year, Hai Phong will become the first locality in the country to implement the teaching of Korean as a Foreign Language 1 in general schools. In addition, Korean will also be taught as a Foreign Language 2 and organized in Korean Clubs in many schools in districts.
Currently, the city has more than 40 educational institutions implementing Korean language teaching programs, with thousands of students studying and actively participating in Korean cultural exchange activities. The expansion of scale and improvement of Korean language teaching quality in Hai Phong is the result of close direction from the city's leaders, the efforts of the education sector, and effective coordination between the Hai Phong Department of Education and Training and the Korean Ministry of Education Office in Vietnam.
Speaking at the ceremony, Director of the Department of Education and Training of the city, Bui Van Kiem, expressed his deep gratitude to the Korean Ministry of Education for recognizing the efforts of the Hai Phong education sector in the past time. At the same time, he emphasized that this is a clear demonstration of the spirit of integration, proactiveness and openness in the development orientation of foreign language education of the city. The Director of the Department of Education and Training expressed his hope that the cooperative relationship between the two sides will continue to be expanded and developed in depth in the coming time, especially through the organization of cultural exchange activities. Thereby, Hai Phong students will have more opportunities to learn about the country and people of Korea, contributing to strengthening the friendship and solidarity between the two countries.
