Accordingly, at the 2025 Southeast Asian Youth Table Tennis Championship (held from April 17-22) in Indonesia, the Vietnam Table Tennis Team had 16 athletes participating. The athletes aged 15, 16-19 were selected from the following teams: CAND - T&T, Ho Chi Minh City, Hanoi , Army, Lam Dong, Hai Duong, Dong Nai... The Vietnam Table Tennis Team participated in the following events: men's team, women's team, men's doubles, women's doubles (ages 15 and 16-19), mixed doubles (ages 16-19).

At the end of the tournament, the Vietnamese table tennis team won 1 gold medal and 5 bronze medals. The only gold medal was won by the pair of athletes Nguyen Duc Viet ( Hai Duong Club) and Nguyen Van Tuan Anh (CAND-T&T Table Tennis Club) after winning the final match of the U15 men's doubles against two Malaysian athletes.
Speaking to reporters on the afternoon of April 25, Coach Vu Manh Cuong (CAND-T&T Club) said that Nguyen Van Tuan Anh is a young athlete with the potential to develop into a top tennis player. Previously in 2024, Tuan Anh also won a Silver medal in the men's singles at the National Youth, Youth and Children's Table Tennis Championship.
Coach Vu Manh Cuong affirmed that recently competing with "seniors" who are the country's top athletes at the CAND-T&T Table Tennis Club such as Dinh Anh Hoang, Le Dinh Duc, Tran Mai Ngoc... has helped Tuan Anh develop his competitive ability.
According to Coach Vu Manh Cuong, in order for Tuan Anh to develop further, the coaching staff of the CAND – T&T Table Tennis Club will bring this athlete to practice and compete with the first team with other excellent players. This will help Tuan Anh have more opportunities to compete and learn with other top athletes, thereby perfecting and further developing his competitive ability.
Coach Vu Manh Cuong also shared that the coaching staff is researching to propose sending Tuan Anh to train abroad. “In order for Tuan Anh to further improve his playing ability, we (the coaching staff) are also researching the plan to send this athlete to train in countries with strengths in table tennis such as China or Japan”…
"Sweet fruit" from socializing sports
Nguyen Van Tuan Anh's Gold Medal is the latest achievement of the CAND - T&T Table Tennis Club. The club was established after the Vietnam CAND Sports Association and T&T Group signed a Memorandum of Understanding on the selection and training of table tennis athletes to compete for the CAND force at the end of May 2024. Accordingly, the core of the CAND - T&T Table Tennis Club consists of coaches and athletes selected from the CAND Sports Training and Competition Center and the T&T Group Sports Training Center.

Immediately after its establishment, the CAND – T&T Table Tennis Club participated in the 2024 National Table Tennis Championship in Nha Trang. With the goal of only winning 1 Gold medal, 1 Silver medal, and 1 Bronze medal, Coach Vu Manh Cuong and his team won 2 Gold medals and 3 Silver medals.
Next, at the 2024 National Youth, Teenager and Children's Table Tennis Championship held in Da Nang, the CAND - T&T Table Tennis Club excellently won the overall first place with 13 Gold medals, 7 Silver medals and 10 Bronze medals. This result far exceeded the pre-tournament goal of winning 8 Gold medals.
The fact that a newly established club has been continuously achieving high achievements such as the CAND – T&T Table Tennis Club is a testament to the effectiveness of systematic investment and socialization of sports. In particular, the cooperation between the CAND Sports Association and T&T Group has created resources to help train and develop athletes, especially young athletes.
In fact, although it has only been established for less than a year, the CAND – T&T Table Tennis Club is one of the units with the strongest athlete force in Vietnam as well as having quite adequate facilities for training and competition. Training in such an environment will help athletes, especially young athletes, have the opportunity to develop comprehensively in terms of physical strength, technique and competitive mentality.
Lieutenant Colonel Pham Hong Tham, Deputy Director of the Police Sports Training and Competition Center, said that the socialization of sports, especially high-performance sports, is a growing trend. The training of athletes in this field should not only rely on the state budget but also need to mobilize additional resources from outside. Table tennis is no exception, facilities, training equipment, nutrition, health care, etc. must be ensured to maintain and develop a force of top athletes. In addition, for athletes to improve their skills, competing and training abroad is also extremely necessary. All of the above require a long-term and systematic investment process. Therefore, the socialization of sports is a good way to mobilize additional resources in addition to the state budget.
