Asian record
Seven Vietnamese football teams have qualified for the final round of the Asian football tournaments, including the U.23 men's team, the U.17 men's team, the women's football team, the U.20 women's team, the U.17 women's team, the men's futsal team and the women's futsal team. Previously, only Japanese football had achieved a similar achievement.

According to statistics, all of the above-mentioned Vietnamese football teams finished the qualifying round undefeated. Up to 5 of our teams won tickets to the final round of the Asian tournaments without conceding any goals in the qualifying round, including the U.23 men's team, U.17 men's team, the women's national team, the U.20 women's team and the U.17 women's team.
Only 2 teams, the men's futsal team and the women's futsal team, were scored against in their respective qualifying matches. However, futsal is an extremely difficult event to keep a clean sheet in each match and in several consecutive matches. Therefore, the achievements of Vietnamese football in 2025 are even more impressive.

The Vietnam U17 men's team just entered the AFC U17 Championship a few days ago with a perfect record of winning all 5 matches, against the opponents including Singapore (6-0), Northern Mariana Islands (14-0), Hong Kong (2-0), Macao (4-0) and Malaysia (4-0). Coach Cristiano Roland's team scored 30 goals, without conceding any.
Develop both depth and breadth
The fact that Vietnamese football has 7 teams qualifying for the finals of Asian tournaments in the same year reflects that our football has developed both deeply and broadly. In terms of breadth, Vietnamese football has developed men's football, women's football, and futsal. In Southeast Asia, only Thailand has developed at this level. Other football teams in the region such as Indonesia, Malaysia, and Singapore have not developed women's football, the Philippines is not strong in futsal, and Myanmar is gradually weakening in all of the above events.

In terms of depth, Vietnamese football has developed well from the national team level to the youth teams. The Vietnamese men's football team is holding the AFF Cup championship, the U.23 youth team holds the U.23 Southeast Asian championship for the last 3 times (2022, 2023 and 2025), winning the right to enter the U.23 Asian finals. The Vietnam U.17 team entered the U.17 Asian finals. The Vietnamese women's football team won the SEA Games 4 times in a row (2017, 2019, 2022 and 2023), entering the Asian championship finals, the U.20 women's and U.17 women's teams also entered the Asian finals.

In Southeast Asia, only Thailand is strong at both the national team and youth level. Football nations like Indonesia, Malaysia, and the Philippines, if they do not massively naturalize foreign players, are not a match for Vietnam, especially at the youth level.
That reflects that Vietnamese football has developed more fundamentally than many other football backgrounds in the region. The achievement of 2025, with a record of 7 teams qualifying for the Asian finals, did not come naturally.
