Tien Linh will receive a "genuine" gold medal
As Thanh Nien Newspaper reported, striker Nguyen Tien Linh asked VFF to contact the AFF Cup 2024 Organizing Committee, requesting to exchange his "unique" gold medal.
While the entire Vietnamese team received gold medals with the words "Champion", Tien Linh was surprised when sharp-eyed fans discovered that his gold medal, although gold-plated, had the words "Runner up" printed on it.
This small, unexpected incident with a rare error has received special attention from Vietnamese fans. Up to now, Tien Linh has a total of 4 gold medals in the colors of the Vietnamese national team and U.23 Vietnam.
The striker born in 1997 has won the AFF Cup 20218 and 2024 with the Vietnamese team twice, and has also helped the U.23 Vietnam team win two historic gold medals in men's football at the SEA Games.

Tien Linh and Xuan Son form a formidable "twin" for the Vietnamese team.
At this point, the AFF Cup 2024 Organizing Committee has received Tien Linh's request. They apologized for the unexpected incident and affirmed that they will award Tien Linh a "genuine" gold medal like his other teammates.
It is known that the entire cost of production and transportation to award the new gold medal with the words "Champion" to Tien Linh will be paid by the AFF Cup 2024 Organizing Committee.
After returning with the AFF Cup 2024 championship, Tien Linh entered the field in the second half and scored in the penalty shootout, helping Binh Duong Club defeat Nam Dinh Club in the 1/8 round of the 2024 - 2025 National Cup.
It is known that because the gold medal has to be renewed from scratch, plus the transportation time, it is likely that Tien Linh will have to wait longer to receive the gold medal, most likely after Tet.
