The Bugatti Chiron Pur Sport is not just a hypercar, but also a technical masterpiece with a limited production of only 60 units worldwide . Launched in 2020, this version focuses on track performance with a superior aerodynamic package and optimized weight. However, exclusivity and top technology also come with a price tag that even repair costs can be shocking, as the case of a car that crashed in Miami, USA has proven.

The car in question, which originally had an Atlantic Blue paint job with Copper accents, had its exterior repainted in Lamborghini Viola Pasifae purple in March 2025. Just three months later, in June 2025, the hypercar collided with a pickup truck, causing extensive front-end damage.
Damage assessment and restoration costs
Matt Armstrong, a YouTuber who specializes in supercar restoration projects, personally inspected this Chiron and published a shocking spare parts quote. The price of the parts on the car shows the price of owning a W16 engine.

The cost of each individual component exceeds the value of many high-performance sports cars on the market:
- Carbon fiber hood: 50,000 Euros (about 58,300 USD)
- Horseshoe Grille: 80,000 Euros (about $93,300)
- LED headlights: 150,000 Euros (about 175,000 USD)
- Carbon fiber wheel arch covers: 150,000 Euros (about 175,000 USD)
The headlights and wheel arch covers alone are worth more than a used Lamborghini Huracan LP 610-4, which shows the intricacy and high-quality materials used in every detail of Bugatti.

Risks from chassis and safety systems
The most serious damage isn’t on the exterior. Initial inspections have revealed damage to the car’s carbon fiber monocoque, which could lead insurers to write off as a “total loss” – a loss of all value, as repairs to the car’s main structure are virtually impossible and unsafe.

The impact also triggered the two front airbags and the driver’s knee airbag. While the safety system worked effectively to protect the passengers, the cost of replacing the entire system, including the steering wheel and dashboard, is not small.
Intact engine and uncertain future
Fortunately, the accident did not affect the rear of the car, which houses the 8.0L W16 engine with four turbochargers, producing a maximum capacity of 1,500 horsepower and 1,600 Nm of torque. The 3D-printed titanium exhaust system typical of the Pur Sport version, which saves more than 50 kg compared to the standard Chiron, was also undamaged.

The car had only covered 3,490 miles (5,617 km) before the crash. Now, the hypercar is being prepared for auction with a description of “transmission damage.” A Polish auction house has listed it for €2.1 million (about $2.45 million), which is half the average resale value of an undamaged Chiron Pur Sport. The price reflects the huge cost of restoration and its uncertain future.
