The cover of the stamp commemorating the 10th anniversary of the Vienna Comic Con
This is Austria's largest pop culture event of any kind. It has been held at Messe Wien since 2015. The festival focuses on pop culture and video games, movies, comics, anime and manga, cosplay and fantasy. Around 40,000 fans attend the event each year for panels, competitions, interviews and performances.
The commemorative miniature stamp combines gaming culture with art. 2015 also saw the release of the video game “The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt” by Polish developer CD Projekt Red, based on the Witcher series, which has had a significant impact on popular culture. Polish artist Krzysztof Domaradzki took inspiration from the Viennese Art Nouveau style to design the miniature stamp cover. The cover features characters from the game in an elaborate frame decorated with flowers and ornaments. 125,100 copies were printed, a nod to the year 1251, the birth year of Ciri, one of the main characters.
