The fourth round of the 2026 World Cup qualifiers in the Asian region has officially begun with the participation of six strong teams: Qatar, Saudi Arabia, Iraq, UAE, Oman, and Indonesia. The draw has divided the groups in a dramatic fashion: Group A includes UAE, Oman, and host nation Qatar; Group B features Indonesia along with two formidable opponents, Saudi Arabia and Iraq.
The format for this round is kept concise but rigorous. Matches will be played in a single round-robin format at the home stadium of one team. The top two teams in each group will qualify directly for the 2026 World Cup finals, which will be held in the USA, Canada, and Mexico.
The second-placed team in each group will not end their journey. They will enter the regional play-off series, playing home and away matches to select a single Asian representative to participate in the intercontinental play-off. Here, six teams from different continents will compete, and only two final tickets will be awarded. This is the ultimate challenge for Indonesia if they want to make history.
