Ca Mau lacks more than 1,520 education officials after merger

According to statistics, the education sector in Ca Mau is short of more than 1,500 civil servants. The Provincial People's Committee has met and agreed on a recruitment plan to meet the needs of the new school year.

On September 22, at a regular meeting, Vice Chairman of the People's Committee of Ca Mau province Nguyen Minh Luan said the province had agreed to assign a unit to preside over the organization of a general examination for education officials for the entire province.

Accordingly, the Department of Education and Training of Ca Mau will organize the exam and announce the results. The People's Committees at the commune level will base on the results to make recruitment decisions. Before that, localities must review and thoroughly resolve the situation of teacher surplus and shortage.

A report from the Department of Education and Training shows that in the 2025-2026 school year, 64 communes and wards need to recruit 1,528 civil servants, including 1,055 teachers and 473 staff.

Recently, many places have been confused by overlapping regulations. The Law on Organization of Local Government (June 16, 2025) assigns authority to the Chairman of the Commune People's Committee, while Decree 142/2025/ND-CP (June 12, 2025) stipulates that it belongs to the Department of Education and Training.

To resolve the issue, the Provincial People's Committee met with professional units and agreed: the Department of Education and Training will organize the exam, the Commune People's Committee will make the recruitment decision, ensuring transparency, timeliness, and meeting the needs of the new school year.
