Ca Mau organizes a conference to disseminate and improve law enforcement skills in e-commerce activities in 2025

On the morning of May 20, 2025, the Department of Industry and Trade of Ca Mau province coordinated with the Center for E-commerce and Digital Technology Development (under the Department of E-commerce and Digital Economy - Ministry of Industry and Trade) to organize a conference to disseminate and promote e-commerce with the theme: "Improving law enforcement skills in e-commerce activities". This is one of the activities under Plan No. 190/KH-UBND dated September 4, 2024 of the Chairman of the People's Committee of Ca Mau province on e-commerce development and digital transformation in trade promotion activities in 2025.

The conference was attended by Mr. Duong Vu Nam, Deputy Director of the Department of Industry and Trade of Ca Mau province; Mr. Nguyen Huu Tuan - Director of the Center for E-commerce and Digital Technology Development (eComDX); Mr. Nguyen Minh Duc - Deputy General Secretary of the Vietnam E-commerce Association; along with 100 delegates who are civil servants and public employees of departments, branches, sectors, and organizations of the province; Economic , Infrastructure and Urban Departments of districts/City of Ca Mau; Universities and Colleges in the province; Associations, Provincial Business Associations; Members of the Community Digital Technology Group of Ca Mau City; Representatives of leaders, business officers, e-commerce officers of enterprises, cooperatives, production and business establishments, OCOP entities in the province; Market Management Board, traders at markets in the province.

Speaking at the opening of the Conference, Mr. Duong Vu Nam - Deputy Director of the Department of Industry and Trade of Ca Mau province, stated that with the strong trend of digital transformation, e-commerce has now become one of the important driving forces to promote economic development, supporting businesses to access the market faster, wider and at lower costs. In Ca Mau, e-commerce activities are also gradually forming and developing, especially in the fields of agricultural products, aquatic products and OCOP products. However, many businesses are still facing many difficulties and limitations, including not fully understanding the legal regulations on e-commerce, related administrative procedures such as: notification/registration of websites with authorities, regulations on goods, tax declaration, regulations on handling, penalties, etc.

Mr. Duong Vu Nam emphasized, "When doing business, whether online or in person, we must comply with the provisions of the law."

Faced with that situation, this Conference was organized to disseminate and update current legal regulations, supporting businesses to properly and fully perform their legal obligations in e-commerce activities. The Conference focused on the following contents: the situation and development trends of e-commerce in Vietnam; e-commerce operation model and related legal document system ( Decree 52/2013/ND-CP and Circular No. 47/2014/TT-BCT as well as updating new points of Decree No. 85/2021/ND-CP, ...); instructions on procedures for notifying e-commerce websites to the Ministry of Industry and Trade ; violations and procedures for handling administrative violations in e-commerce; skills to identify and prevent fraudulent behavior in e-commerce activities; methods of approaching and handling violations via livestream, social networks, ...; application of artificial intelligence (AI) in e-commerce sales.

This conference is an opportunity for management agencies, enterprises, cooperatives, and business households to exchange, learn, and improve their capacity to effectively and legally implement digital transformation. At the same time, it contributes to building a healthy, transparent, and safe e-commerce environment in the locality.
