Chau Nhat Tin is a familiar face to student audiences when performing "School Stage" programs, promoting songs about Vietnamese history and Ho Chi Minh City.
* Reporter: Why did you name the song "Love the city, write an epic"?
- CHAU NHAT TIN: I was born and raised in Hon Dat, Kien Giang province. I came to Ho Chi Minh City to study and have been attached to this place. I think many generations have written glorious pages of history about Ho Chi Minh City. I am a young person, a citizen of the city named after Uncle Ho, so I have the responsibility to continue writing the heroic pages of history of this city. That is why the song "Love the city, write a historical poem" was born.
* Your strength is writing pop music, so you included rap parts in the song "Loving the city, writing epic". Do you think this trend is appropriate?
- Young people today like to rap. However, putting the image of national heroes into rap is a big challenge, it is even more difficult when writing about a topic praising our city. The young people's tendency to like rap is the motivation for me to write rap in this song and I hope it will be well received by young people.

* As a drama actor and a songwriter, do you think you will write a musical about Ho Chi Minh City?
- Our group also has many singers who also like musicals, so we will soon compose a musical about the story of the love of the people of Ho Chi Minh City. Although life is still difficult and arduous, whenever the people of the Central and Northern regions are hit by natural disasters, the people of Ho Chi Minh City are always at the forefront of relief work. I will write this story of love into a musical script so that we can sing and dance to spread this beautiful image to a large number of young audiences.
* Do you think the influence of songs written about Ho Chi Minh City will help the young generation study and work enthusiastically, contributing to building Ho Chi Minh City to become more and more prosperous?
- That is not only what I wish for, but also what any musician who participates in the songwriting campaign with the theme "The Country is Full of Joy" organized by the Newspaper Nguoi Lao Dong also aims for. I like the lyrics of musician Vu Hoang in the song "Youthful Aspirations": "Don't ask what the Fatherland has done for us, but ask what we have done for the Fatherland today...".
* Do you have any suggestions for the Organizing Committee to achieve the best results?
- I think the strength of the Nguoi Lao Dong Newspaper is the support of the majority of readers and the public. The Mai Vang Award has entered its 30th year, and it is not enough that a number of songs from the campaign will be selected for promotion. I think that after that, the singers and artists who win the Mai Vang Award can continue to accompany the Organizing Committee, performing in many localities and residential communities everywhere, thereby spreading the songs of this very meaningful campaign in 2025.
The songwriting campaign "The Country is Full of Joy" was organized by the Lao Dong Newspaper to celebrate the 50th anniversary of the Liberation of the South and National Reunification Day (April 30, 1975 - April 30, 2025). Up to now, the Organizing Committee has received 68 songs from 49 authors across the country.
In order for the campaign to continue to receive the response of musicians, and at the same time serve as a basis for the Organizing Committee to select the best works, the Newspaper Nguoi Lao Dong opened a poll to select the author whose work is most loved by readers.
The Organizing Committee will select 20 excellent works for the final round. The final round will take place in February 2025. During the time of receiving works and preliminary screening, the Organizing Committee will select good works to stage and introduce at the 30th Mai Vang Awards Ceremony (expected on January 8, 2025). At the same time, the Organizing Committee will also post the works on the newspaper's social networking platform to introduce to the community and promote at Music Exchange programs held at Nguoi Lao Dong Newspaper.
