The whole highway was red because of the traffic jam of fabric trucks.

These days, from early morning, traffic jams have been occurring on Highway 31 through Chu town (Luc Ngan district, Bac Giang province) as locals transport lychees to gathering points to sell to traders.

Bustling trading scenes take place at Chu and Kim intersections from early morning. Each vehicle carries a basket of lychees weighing from 150 to 200 kg.

Luc Ngan litchi, famous in the North, has a good harvest this year but its price has dropped. Accordingly, the selling price at the market is only 6,000-13,000 VND/kg, while Thanh Ha litchi ( Hai Duong ) is only about 4,000 VND/kg.

Traders go out into the street to bargain with customers. After the seller agrees, they push each cart into the house to be weighed and packed in a freezer to load onto the truck.

At the collection points, sellers are given a coupon with the selling price and then receive the money.

Mr. Cuong (Lam village) said that for more than 2 weeks now, every day he goes to sell fabric, he is stuck in traffic jams.

As the number of people coming in increased, Mr. Ngoc Anh drove his car to the sidewalk and waited for the traffic to clear before going to the place to weigh the lychees. “Today I only brought 100kg to sell because yesterday the lychee export to China was overloaded,” he said.

Because traders and garden owners gather here in such large numbers, accidents are inevitable, including minor collisions that spill goods onto the road.

Many garden owners lined up to wait their turn to weigh their lychees.

Since early morning, Mr. Phong (Lam village) has transported 3 loads of lychee (each load of 150kg) and earned 4.5 million VND. "The price is very low, and in several places they even forced the price down, so I'm so tired that I have to sell it," he lamented.

Ms. Ngoc works as a porter and her employer pays her 500,000 VND per day. “This is the time to earn money so everyone is excited to have more income,” she shared.

After the fabric is weighed and loaded onto the container truck, the carrier receives the payment immediately and leaves.
