Pitbulls are fully known as American Pit Bull Terriers. They began to be bred in the United States in the early 19th century for the purpose of participating in human-organized fights. At that time, Pitbulls often appeared in fights with bulls or bears. In 1935, a law was passed in the United States prohibiting the organization of these fights. From this historical milestone, Pitbulls were domesticated and less aggressive, becoming family pets.
In our country today, raising Pitbull dogs is gradually becoming popular. Many people raise dogs to guard their houses, gardens or just for fun, personal interests but do not understand this breed of dog. Raising and letting wild dogs like Pitbulls roam freely is dangerous for everyone. Pitbulls are a strong breed of dog, capable of becoming dangerous if not raised and trained properly.
Pitbulls have a strong bite and a brave personality, which makes them a popular choice for raising to protect homes or perform security-related jobs. However, raising and letting Pitbulls roam freely without caution and control can lead to dangerous consequences. Typically, the heartbreaking incident occurred on the evening of May 17, 2023, in Binh Thang Ward (Di An City, Binh Duong Province). An 82-year-old woman was attacked by her family's Pitbull, causing her to die on the spot, and many other cases of Pitbulls attacking people... have once again sounded the alarm about the current uncontrolled raising of ferocious dogs in our country.
Raising this breed of dog requires knowledge, said Mr. Phan Hoang Phuc (living in My Hoa ward, Long Xuyen city): “Recently, attacks from Pitbull dogs are due to the subjectivity of pet owners when taking them out on the street without muzzles. I see many people leisurely taking them out on the street, to the park or many young people taking them out to drink coffee or to public places without muzzles. Many people when buying Pitbull dogs to raise do not learn about the personality of this dog breed. Not only Pitbull dogs but many different breeds of dogs will have different characteristics and personalities. Therefore, dog owners need to have knowledge about the breed of dog they are raising, to avoid unfortunate consequences.”
Mr. Ho Minh Tam (My Phuoc Ward, Long Xuyen City) shared: “Pitbulls are not always dangerous, but it depends on how they are cared for and trained. Raising and training Pitbulls requires dedication, knowledge and skills from the owner. Raising and letting Pitbulls roam free not only threatens the safety of others, but can also cause serious accidents and injuries.”
Mr. Nguyen Thanh Ho (Binh Khanh Ward, Long Xuyen City) has many years of experience in raising fierce dogs, such as Rottweiler, German Shepherd... so he is very knowledgeable about the personalities of many fierce dogs. "Pitbulls originate from America, are a breed of dog with strong muscles and a very high fighting spirit. Pitbulls are not as dangerous as we think if they are properly trained and educated, they only become aggressive if provoked and are difficult to stop. Therefore, anyone who wants to raise this breed of dog needs to think carefully, if they do not have experience with them" - Mr. Ho shared.
To avoid the heartbreaking incidents caused by Pitbulls like the recent past, we hope that the authorities will have strict regulations and strict control over the breeding of Pitbulls. At the same time, it is necessary to strengtheneducation and raise public awareness about dangerous dogs to reduce the risk of unfortunate accidents and create a safe living environment for everyone.
