Can Tho: Promoting digital transformation in the activities of elected agencies

The People's Council of Can Tho City recently held the Opening Ceremony of the Electronic Information Page "Elected Representatives with Voters and People". This is an important event, marking a new step forward in information and propaganda work, enhancing publicity, transparency and strongly applying digital transformation in the activities of elected agencies, thereby continuing to affirm the spirit of building a digital government - digital society in the direction of being close to the people, serving the people more effectively.

Determination to innovate the elected body

Speaking at the ceremony, Standing Deputy Secretary of the City Party Committee, Chairman of the People's Council of Can Tho City Dong Van Thanh said that in order to concretize the implementation of Resolution No. 57-NQ/TW, practically welcome the 1st Congress of Can Tho City Party Committee, term 2025-2030, towards the 14th National Congress of the Party. The People's Council of Can Tho City has coordinated with VNPT Can Tho to research, build and develop the electronic information page "Elected representatives with voters and people".

This is an important milestone, affirming the determination to innovate and modernize the activities of elected bodies, towards building a government that serves the people, is closer to the people, and is more responsive to the people.

In the coming time, the City People's Council will step up the implementation of the Resolutions of the City People's Council Party Committee on synchronously building support mechanisms to promote breakthroughs in science , technology and innovation in all fields; applying digital transformation in leadership, management and operation of the City People's Council Party Committee, the National Assembly Delegation and the City People's Council.

The breakthrough task of the 1st Party Committee of the City People's Council, term 2025-2030 in applying digital transformation has been identified, which is to apply artificial intelligence (AI) to create automatic answering chatbots on the website to better serve visitors, increase interaction and answer questions more quickly and accurately.

With a new interface and modern features, the website "Elected representatives with voters and people" has contributed to the administrative modernization process, towards building a digital government to serve the people more effectively.

Transparency, towards digital society

Ms. Ma Thi Tuoi, Member of the Standing Committee of the City Party Committee, Permanent Vice Chairwoman of the City People's Council affirmed that the electronic information page "Elected representatives with voters and people" not only contributes to improving transparency and democracy in the activities of elected bodies but also expands a reliable online connection channel between representatives and voters and people, helping representatives promptly grasp the thoughts, aspirations and legitimate reflections of the people to advise, propose and decide on important issues of the city.

This is also one of the solutions to concretize Resolution No. 57-NQ/TW, in line with the orientation of building digital government, smart cities, and digital society that the city is implementing.

Putting into operation the website "Elected representatives with voters and people" is a strategic step in the roadmap to innovate the activities of elected agencies, contributing to realizing the motto "people know, people discuss, people do, people check, people supervise, people benefit".

This is an important tool to strengthen people's trust in the government, create close ties between voters and representatives, and at the same time improve the effectiveness of supervision and the quality of decisions on local socio-economic issues.

The website is designed in a modern and friendly manner, with a diverse and rich system of sections: information introducing the organizational structure, promptly updating the activities of the National Assembly Delegation, the City People's Council and all levels of government; announcing the working schedule, voter contact schedule; posting full meeting documents, resolutions, reports; and opening the "Voter's Voice" section for people to directly reflect, make recommendations, and express their thoughts and aspirations. In particular, the highlight is the integration of AI applications through virtual assistants to support people in looking up information, summarizing documents, answering frequently asked questions, operating 24/7, creating a fast, convenient and effective interaction channel.

Sharing more about the process of researching and developing the website "Elected Representatives with Voters and People", Director of VNPT Can Tho Cao Xuan Doan said that VNPT in general, VNPT Can Tho in particular, is pioneering in research, application of science and technology, innovation, digital transformation. In particular, VNPT is proactively investing, researching, mastering, and applying core and key technologies such as AI, Big Data, Cloud, IoT, 5G/6G, network security... contributing to the goal of making Vietnam a developed digital country by 2030, with the digital economy accounting for at least 30% of GDP, being in the top 50 countries in the world in terms of digital competitiveness and digital government development index; being in the top 3 countries in Southeast Asia in terms of e-government and digital economy.

For Can Tho, the application of AI technology has had a profound impact on all aspects of life and society, requiring Can Tho City to build a long-term strategy, invest in digital infrastructure, train AI human resources, develop an innovation ecosystem to become a center of science and technology, a driving force for development of the Mekong Delta region, contributing to affirming its position on the map of digital countries.

Within the framework of the ceremony, the Standing Committee of the City People's Council and VNPT Can Tho signed a cooperation agreement on digital transformation and information technology application. The agreement will create an important premise to improve management and operation capacity, while supporting the City People's Council to promote the role of local state power agencies, towards a digitalized, modern, transparent and effective administration./
