Báo Thanh niênBáo Thanh niên02/09/2023

Currently on social networks, there are many individuals, groups and organizations arbitrarily using personal images of famous people to run advertisements and sell products in order to defraud customers, profit and affect the community.

All kinds of scams surround users

For many weeks now, an advertisement has been appearing on Facebook selling Daikin brand vacuum cleaner robots. This advertisement has aroused curiosity because of the content of the apology to customers and the limited sale information of 5,000 Daikin vacuum cleaner robots in 3 days for only 899,000 VND. The price is cheap but the advertised product combines both vacuuming and mopping, with a suction force of 2,700 pa, can suck up all kinds of trash, fine dust, hair, equipped with a drop sensor, anti-collision...

Many advertisements contain false content on social network Facebook

Accessing the provided link will redirect to the website daikin.company . This website says the product showroom is in Quang Ninh , however information about shipping policy, warranty policy, privacy policy, contact cannot be found.

TN (Tan Phu District, Ho Chi Minh City) said that he has seen these advertisements for a long time, but the price of less than 1 million VND for a robot vacuum cleaner and floor cleaner is really unreasonable. He said: "I think such advertisements will be difficult to be effective for young users, but older people may fall into the trap. I think this is a form of fraudulent sales advertising when imitating the Daikin brand, which is famous for air conditioners in our country. Maybe when they order, they will call to have the product delivered but it will be a poor quality product."

A recent case discovered by users is an advertisement on Facebook, which includes content mentioning ordering the Galaxy Buds 2 Pro product through the website samsungglobal.store for less than 1 million VND.

Speaking with Thanh Nien , a Samsung representative said: "The website samsungglobal.store is not an official Samsung website and this sales program does not exist. We recommend that customers can access the official website of Samsung Vietnam to make purchases at https://www.samsung.com/vn/ ".

Recently, the account D.T posted a warning about his digital assets being taken over by hackers. He said that his Facebook page system with nearly 1 million followers, and accounts approved by Facebook to run ads worth up to nearly 100 million VND, had fallen into the hands of bad guys. He said the reason was because he found and downloaded cracked Photoshop software and shared it on forums in Vietnam.

Stay informed and be alert to scams

Along with fraudulent advertisements, users are also being harassed by phone calls inviting them to join a network of collaborators with high salaries while doing almost nothing. There are cases where the invitation is to post advertisements on personal pages to receive salaries of up to millions of VND. Then these subjects send files in the form of compressed files with the extension .zip or .rar. Mr. TA ( Hanoi ) recently shared on his personal account about a customer who contacted the fanpage to send files with the message that he had selected clothing models, but when he received it, it was a compressed file with many files with the extension .bat. He determined that these were most likely malware files, so he did not click on them.

According to Mr. Vu Ngoc Son, Technical Director of Vietnam National Cyber Security Technology Company - NCS, these tricks aim to trick victims into clicking on files to take control of the device, thereby being able to obtain information about accounts, passwords, and even remotely control the victim's computer to perform destructive acts. Mr. Son also recommends that users do not download files or click on links sent by strangers.

A technology expert also said that users should avoid downloading cracked software shared on online forums. In addition to using pirated software, most cracked software often installs malware to collect important information from browsers and send it to hackers to serve phishing attacks.
