On December 11th, the Binh Dinh U19 team confirmed they would not participate in the 2025 National U19 Championship. This news caused a stir among Binh Dinh football fans. The reason for the Binh Dinh football team's withdrawal from the tournament was due to squad issues.
According to Mr. Luc Van Dung, Director of the Binh Dinh Sports Training and Competition Center, the Binh Dinh province U19 team has 22 athletes, of whom 19 are in 12th grade at Nguyen Thai Hoc High School (Quy Nhon City), 1 is from a continuing education center, 1 is a university student, and 1 is not attending school.
"Because the first leg of the tournament is scheduled from December 22nd to January 2nd, and the second leg from January 4th to January 14th, which coincides with the first semester exams of the 2024-2025 school year, after discussion, we have informed the Vietnam Football Federation and the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism of Binh Dinh province that we will not participate in this tournament," Mr. Dung said.

He added: "We prioritize the children's education; if they don't participate in the competition at the beginning of the year, there's still the competition at the end of 2025."
Mr. Bui Trung Hieu, Deputy Director of the Department of Culture and Sports of Binh Dinh province, said that the Department had received a report from the Sports Training and Competition Center regarding the incident.
" We will double-check the information, but in any case, the children's education remains our top priority ," Mr. Hieu said.
