Thailand beat Indonesia 7-0 in Southeast Asian women's football tournament
"Before the match, I was confident we would win, but I didn't think it would be so easy. After this victory, I think the match with the Vietnamese women's team is the most important match in the group stage.
"I hope we will top the table," said striker Karnjanathat Phomsri of the Thai women's team after a resounding 7-0 victory over the Indonesian women's team in the opening match of Group A of the 2025 AFF Cup at Lach Tray Stadium ( Hai Phong ) on the evening of August 6.

In this match, Thailand took the lead in the 6th minute thanks to a header by striker Karnjanathat Phomsri, after she won a one-on-one challenge with the Indonesian goalkeeper.
In the 18th minute, Thailand raised the score to 2-0 thanks to a long-range shot by Maddison Jett Castine from outside the penalty area but the Indonesian goalkeeper could not block it.
In the remaining minutes of the first half, the Thai women's team easily scored 3 more goals thanks to goals from Karnjanathat Phomsri, Pitchayathida Manowang and Janista Jinantuya.
In the second half, despite slowing down, Thailand still scored 2 more goals in just 2 minutes. Pinyaphat Klinklai scored in the 70th minute and immediately after that, Promthongmee sealed the 7-0 victory. With a brace for the home team, striker Karnjanathat Phomsri was honored as the best player of the match.
"I am very happy to be named the best player of the match today. The whole team supported each other very well and played very well. I am happy that we scored many goals. However, I want to score more goals," Phomsri shared on the Thai women's team's Instagram account.
This resounding victory helped the Thai women's team temporarily rise to the top of Group A when a few hours later the Vietnamese women's team also won 6-0 against Cambodia (both had 3 points but had a better goal difference).
In the next match, the Thai women's team will meet Cambodia and the Vietnamese women's team will face Indonesia on August 9.
