The monitoring website DownDetector.com received 2,483 reports of errors affecting OpenAI services as of 11:42 PM local time yesterday. These disruptions occurred on both the paid and enterprise versions.
OpenAI stated that it has identified the issue affecting its API (Application Programming Interface), ChatGPT, and Sora services and is working to resolve it. In its latest update, the company stated that it is beginning to see things improve. They said they identified a "recovery path" in less than two hours since first acknowledging the issue and stated that some traffic has returned to normal.

The full update on the website stated: "We've identified a recovery path and we're starting to see some successful access return. We're working to get service back to normal." A few minutes later, they added: "We're continuing to troubleshoot."
OpenAI has not provided an estimated timeframe for when services will return to normal, but promises to keep users updated on any developments.
On Twitter, many users also complained about OpenAI issues. One user wrote: "I wondered why I couldn't download anything. It's good to know you guys have fixed this problem. Thank you." Another joked: "Has anyone tried restarting?"
OpenAI has not yet provided a reason for the outage.
OpenAI's outage occurred around the same time Meta also experienced problems with Facebook. The world's largest social network said it was now "99% complete" in fixing the issue. Earlier, thousands of social media users in parts of the UK reported connection problems with Facebook, Instagram, and WhatsApp.
DownDetector said the three cities most severely affected by the outage were London, Manchester, and Glasgow. Other major cities heavily impacted by the outage included Cardiff, Nottingham, and Birmingham.
