Regarding the major fire in Tram Chim National Park, on the evening of June 11th, Mr. Nguyen Phuoc Thien, Vice Chairman of the People's Committee of Dong Thap province, chaired an emergency meeting to review lessons learned from the fire.
According to authorities in Dong Thap province, the cause of the fire was illegal entry and careless use of fire.

At the meeting, Colonel Bui Be Nam, Deputy Director of the Dong Thap Provincial Police, stated that from now until tomorrow (June 12th), police will remain on-site until the fire is completely extinguished before withdrawing vehicles and personnel from the National Park.
Based on initial assessments, the fire was caused by human error, so the leaders of the Dong Thap Provincial Police Department requested the Provincial People's Committee to direct the unit to continue investigating the cause of the fire.
At the emergency meeting, Vice Chairman of the People's Committee of Dong Thap province Nguyen Phuoc Thien highly appreciated the efforts of the forces participating in firefighting at Tram Chim National Park, including the urgent relocation of people living around the forest fire area.
He suggested continuing to deploy personnel to deal with the fire and ensuring adequate food and drink for the firefighting forces. Awards will be considered to commend and encourage the morale of the forces on duty; risk assessments and lessons learned will be conducted in the future.

According to Mr. Thien, the immediate damage is to 5 motorbikes belonging to the firefighting force, which he will find a way to compensate for; at the same time, he will learn valuable lessons from this incident.
Mr. Thien believes that most of the evidence at the scene of the fire consists of rat traps. These serve as a basis and clue for investigation and prosecution, and could even lead to the application of criminal measures as a deterrent.
Later that same day, Mr. Nguyen Van Vu Minh, Director of the Department of Agriculture and Rural Development of Dong Thap province, stated that the Dong Thap Provincial Forest Protection Department had recently predicted the risk of forest fires in Tram Chim National Park; specifically for area A1, the forest fire risk was predicted to be at level V (extremely dangerous), with the potential for large fires and rapid spread.
The unit had taken proactive preventive measures, but the fire still occurred.
Initial assessments suggest the fire was caused by people illegally entering the forest and carelessly using fire.
At 10:45 AM on June 11th, a fire broke out in Zone A1 of Tram Chim National Park. Approximately 250 people, including police, military personnel, and local residents, actively participated in extinguishing the fire.
By 4 PM the same day, the fire was essentially extinguished.
The fire caused no casualties, but it burned 20.4 hectares of melaleuca forest, including 18.2 hectares under the canopy, and 1.84 hectares of grassland.
