On December 2, a working delegation of the People's Committee of Ca Mau province led by Mr. Lam Van Bi - Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee - had a survey and worked with Bac Lieu, Vinh Trach and Hiep Thanh wards on the arrangement and handling of public assets such as surplus houses and land.

At the meeting, Mr. Lam Van Bi said that the three wards are oriented by the province to become centers of culture and arts, education and training, scientific research, innovation and tourism services. In the coming time, the province will focus on implementing projects to achieve this goal.

Assessing the work of arranging public assets, Mr. Bi acknowledged the close coordination between departments, branches and localities, considering this a model for replication. He requested that wards continue to promptly handle surplus facilities to avoid degradation and waste.

The Department of Education and Training is required to review the network of schools, especially remote locations, to soon convert the functions of headquarters in accordance with the goal of building schools that meet national standards.

The leaders of the Department of Finance said that in the three wards, there are currently 91 surplus houses and lands that need to be handled. Of these, 11 have been allocated to agencies and units; the remaining 80 are still being reviewed and arranged. Some locations are vacant, degraded, and have no exploitation plan.

The Department of Finance proposed to hand over 60 surplus facilities to the Provincial Land Fund Development Center for auction or investment invitation (52 facilities in Bac Lieu ward alone, 8 facilities in Vinh Trach). At the same time, it proposed to hand over 20 facilities to the locality for management and use (including 6 in Bac Lieu, 3 in Vinh Trach and 11 in Hiep Thanh).

The timelines given by the Department of Finance include: completing the status inspection, handover and submission of the arrangement plan in December; completing the review and adjustment of land use planning and construction planning no later than the second quarter of 2026.

At the meeting, representatives of departments, branches and localities agreed to prioritize the arrangement of surplus facilities to expand and upgrade schools; some facilities were proposed to be used as hamlet headquarters, the rest were included in land use planning to call for investment.
