University of Social Sciences and Humanities explains the decision to stop considering the C00 combination for 15/30 majors

Recently, the University of Social Sciences and Humanities (USSH), Vietnam National University, Hanoi announced its enrollment plan and expected admission combination for 2026 with many notable adjustments compared to last year.

Accordingly, in 2026, each major and school will only consider 3-4 combinations, only Han Nom major will consider 5 combinations. Last year, most majors considered 7-8 combinations.

In particular, in 2026, the school will not consider the C00 combination with 15/30 majors, including many hot majors of the school such as: journalism, Oriental studies, Korean studies, public relations, international studies, psychology...

The school has eliminated the admission of 3 groups for all majors, including D66 (math, literature, civics/ economics and law education), C03 (math, literature, history), C04 (math, literature, geography).

In 2026, most of the school's majors will recruit 3 groups, including: D01 (math, literature, English), D14 (literature, English, history), D15 (literature, English, geography).

Speaking with Tuoi Tre Online, Associate Professor Dr. Dang Hong Son - Vice Principal of the University of Social Sciences and Humanities - said that the above adjustments are all part of the school's enrollment roadmap and have been carefully researched and surveyed.

According to Mr. Son, in the past 10 years, in addition to traditional majors, the school has developed modern social sciences and humanities majors. These are majors that require students to have good foreign language skills to study some textbooks that cannot be translated into Vietnamese.

Besides, according to the regulations of the Ministry of Education and Training, the requirement of English subjects to reach at least 30% of a training program, so it is appropriate that students need to have a certain level of English proficiency.

Mr. Son added that in reality, students admitted with the C00 combination face many difficulties during their training due to the English barrier, and have difficulty graduating due to not meeting the foreign language output standards.

In a school survey on the number of students graduating late due to not meeting foreign language output standards, the number of students admitted with the C00 combination degree accounted for the highest percentage.

"If we remove the C00 combination, the school will certainly be affected in terms of the number of applications and the benchmark scores may be lower. But the school is willing to accept this difficulty to improve the quality of training," said Mr. Son.

According to Mr. Son, this year the school has removed the D66, C03, C04 combinations, because the Ministry of Education and Training's university admission guidelines and previous documents require each major to have no more than 4 combinations. Only the school's Han Nom major considers 5 combinations because this is a major with many foreign languages.

In 2026, depending on the major, the school will also double the score for literature or English in the admission combination. This is to ensure compliance with the regulation that the common subject between the combinations must account for 50% of the weighted score, in accordance with the regulations of the Ministry of Education and Training.

Mr. Son affirmed that the announcement of changes in admission combinations at the present time is in accordance with general regulations, candidates still have time to change their study wishes, switching to majors suitable for the graduation exam block.

In 2026, the school plans to enroll 2,800 students, an increase of about 150 compared to 2025. The expected increase in enrollment for new training majors is human resource management (60 enrollments) and multimedia communications (90 enrollments).

The seven admission combinations for 2026 are as follows: D01 (math, literature, English), D04 (math, literature, Chinese), DD2 (math, literature, Korean), D06 (math, literature, Japanese), D14 (literature, English, history), D15 (literature, English, geography), C00 (literature, history, geography).
