Started in May 2021, Long Thanh airport has been in operation for about three and a half years. Many items have been implemented such as drainage leveling, passenger terminal, runway, taxiway, and connecting road T1 T2.
From the vast rubber plantations, Long Thanh airport is now a huge construction site. The connecting roads are clearly visible, the terminal building is clearly shaped, and the runway is taking shape.
These items have helped Long Thanh airport become magnificent, massive, and different from before, especially when viewed from above.
According to the Vietnam Airports Corporation (ACV), there are currently nearly 6,000 officers, engineers and workers participating in the construction at Long Thanh airport.
Thousands of vehicles, machines and equipment are mobilized to speed up the project progress.
For the passenger terminal, the joint venture contractor has completed the underground part, finished the first floor slab, and is deploying formwork, steel reinforcement and concrete for the second floor slab. At this stage, workers are focusing on work, taking advantage of the sunny weather during the rainy season to pour concrete for the second floor slab.
Mr. Evren Isit Bingol, commander of the Vietur contractor consortium, said that the contractors have mobilized more than 3,220 workers and 950 pieces of equipment to focus on synchronously constructing items at the passenger terminal.
The station's progress is 10-20 days ahead of schedule in some items and the units are trying to complete the reinforced concrete structure early so that the steel roof structure can be erected at the end of the third quarter and the beginning of the fourth quarter.
Mr. Nguyen Chau (representative of contractor Vinaconex) said that because the South has entered the rainy season, construction work is more difficult. The contractor is still taking advantage of the sunny weather to continue to speed up progress.
Some jobs also require workers to work through the sun and rain to ensure volume.
For package 4.6 - runway construction, Mr. Le Van Tien (ACC Aviation Construction Corporation, the construction unit) said that the joint venture of contractors mobilized 1,700 people and 350 pieces of equipment and machinery with 50 construction teams working continuously.
Up to now, the contractor has completed the foundation and the M150 cement concrete layer of the runway structure. The M350 cement concrete surface is also being deployed to pour test strips.
At the construction site of the traffic intersection connecting T1 and T2 (package 6.12), the joint venture contractor has mobilized 630 personnel, 196 machines and equipment and deployed all construction teams simultaneously. Workers are filling K95 and K98 soil, some sections have been graded with crushed stone, and bored piles are being completed...
