Hearing that she would be participating in the “Zero-VND Market” program, Ms. Ha Thi Suu (born in 1949), in Ward 3, Dong Ha City, was so happy that she could not sleep. Early in the morning, she asked her neighbor to take her to the location of this special market.

Mrs. Suu's life was a series of hard and difficult days. Just when she thought happiness had smiled on her when she had a home, the pain of losing her husband came. Ironically, her children were not as lucky as many others, suffering from intellectual disabilities. The burden of making a living fell on her thin shoulders during her younger years.

Now, in her old age and weak health, Mrs. Suu can only rely on the care and support of the government and social organizations. Sharing with reporters at the program "Zero-dong Market", the woman could not hide her emotion: "I was given a voucher worth 500,000 VND to go to the "market" and personally choose the necessary items for my family. That makes me feel very happy. To me, this support is very meaningful, so that I know that I am not abandoned."

Mr. Nguyen Van Hung (born in 1986), from Cam Thuy commune, Cam Lo district, participated in the “Zero-VND Market” program with a happy mood. He himself is disabled; his elderly mother is often tormented by illness. Without a stable source of finance, his family’s life is very difficult.

While waiting for his turn to shop, he took the opportunity to observe and choose some items that suited his family's needs. Thanks to that, his shopping process was very quick, creating conditions for the long line of people waiting.

“I don’t know what to say other than to thank the provincial Red Cross Society, organizations and kind individuals for joining hands to organize practical and meaningful programs like this. This is not only sharing but also a motivation to help us poor people overcome difficulties and rise up in life,” Mr. Hung confided.

398 disadvantaged people in the province who participated in the "Zero-VND Market" program all shared the same feelings as Ms. Suu and Mr. Hung. The "Zero-VND Market" program was organized by the Provincial Red Cross with a support level of 500,000 VND/person to respond to the Humanitarian Month in 2025. At the market, more than 20 booths (supported by charitable organizations and individuals inside and outside the province) included many types of necessities and essential items such as: rice, eggs, instant noodles, spices, cakes, milk, towels, basins, pots... were displayed for people to freely choose.

Chairwoman of the Quang Tri Provincial Red Cross Society Mai Thi Kim Nhung said: “The “Zero-VND Market” program is organized with the aim of giving gifts to people in difficult circumstances in the most practical and effective way. Coming to the “Zero-VND Market”, people can choose the items that suit their needs. Thereby, it partly shares the difficulties, helping people have more motivation to soon rise up in life.”

It is known that, up to now, the Provincial Red Cross Society has received mobilization and support commitments from the Central Committee of the Vietnam Red Cross Society , Red Cross Societies of provinces and cities, organizations, businesses, and individuals inside and outside the province with a total value of nearly 8 billion VND to implement activities in Humanitarian Month 2025.

The Chairman of the Provincial Red Cross Society said that in the coming time, they will focus on implementing many practical activities such as: supporting livelihoods, building Red Cross houses, organizing medical examinations, providing free medicine, showing gratitude to heroic Vietnamese mothers, giving gifts to disadvantaged people...

“In order for the 2025 Humanitarian Month to be effective, the Provincial Association pledges to deploy humanitarian assistance activities to the right beneficiaries, ensuring timeliness and transparency; strengthen mobilization and effective use of resources in the spirit of “each organization is a humanitarian address, each individual is a humanitarian ambassador”. At the same time, closely coordinate with the government, departments, and organizations to strongly spread the humanitarian spirit, build a united and sharing community; maintain humanitarian activities in a sustainable direction”, Ms. Nhung affirmed.
