XINHUA. China's first domestically built superyacht left Shanghai port on its maiden commercial voyage, opening a new chapter for the country's shipbuilding and yachting industry.

CCTV. In a congratulatory message on the 45th anniversary of the establishment of US-China diplomatic relations (January 1, 1979 - January 1, 2024), President Xi Jinping called on both sides to "take practical actions to promote the stable, healthy and sustainable development of bilateral relations."

TEMPO. Indonesia officially applied special consumption tax on electronic cigarettes (vapes) on January 1 to control the quantity consumed in the market.

AL JAZEERA. Several rockets were fired from the Gaza Strip at Tel Aviv and southern Israel early on January 1, following Israeli airstrikes on Gaza as a “dark” year of conflict nears its end.

ANADOLU. The year 2024 begins the “ Turkish Century ” with the government’s goal of building a strong country, President Recep Tayyip Erdogan stressed in his New Year’s message.
REUTERS. EU member states have agreed to abolish internal air and sea border controls for Bulgaria and Romania, paving the way for the two countries to join the Schengen visa-free zone.
GUARDIAN. In her New Year's speech in 2024, Queen Margrethe II of Denmark suddenly announced that she will abdicate on January 14 after 52 years on the throne, giving the throne to her son, Crown Prince Frederik.

RNZ. All New Zealand dairy products enter China duty-free as the safeguard duty on milk powder ends on 31 December 2023, marking the removal of all reserved tariffs agreed under the FTA between the two countries.
