The Hoang Lien Pass Tunnel Project is a key transportation project connecting Sa Pa ward (Lao Cai province) with Binh Lu commune ( Lai Chau province). The project has a total length of approximately 8.8 km, including a main tunnel of about 2.63 km, a secondary tunnel of about 2.65 km, along with access roads, bridges, culverts, and tunnel safety structures.
Upon completion, the Hoang Lien Pass road tunnel project will overcome the treacherous mountain pass conditions and fundamentally address the limitations of the route on National Highway 4D, helping vehicles reduce the distance of the Hoang Lien Pass (O Quy Ho Pass) by 22 km, contributing to the completion and improvement of the quality of the vital inter-provincial and inter-regional transportation infrastructure; creating conditions to attract investment, develop tourism, and promote socio -economic development in the Northwest region.
During the inspection, representatives from the units reported on several issues related to the Project, its implementation progress, highlighted difficulties and obstacles, proposed solutions, and made recommendations to the Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee to ensure the Project is implemented on schedule.
Emphasizing that this project is of particular importance to Lai Chau province, and was selected as a project to celebrate the 14th National Congress of the Communist Party of Vietnam, the Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee requested that all units coordinate effectively in all stages and steps, overcoming difficulties to accelerate progress. The goal is to ensure that the road not only meets the requirements for transportation connectivity but also connects with tourist destinations, maximizing the local economic potential.
The Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee requested that the leaders of Binh Lu commune, along with the Project Management Board for Investment and Construction of Transportation Projects and the construction unit, closely coordinate with Sa Pa ward (Lao Cai province) to definitively complete the compensation and land clearance work and related issues. All parties should meet, discuss, and agree on solutions, summarize the difficulties, and promptly report them to the Provincial People's Committee for appropriate action.
Representatives of the construction unit affirmed that, with the highest determination, the unit is striving to increase shifts and mobilize human and material resources to accelerate the project's progress. In addition, they will coordinate well with the local government and specialized agencies of the province to implement the project in accordance with regulations.
Comrade Ha Quang Trung, Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee, instructed the provincial specialized agencies to coordinate effectively with the units to implement the Project and accelerate its progress according to the set plan.
