Focus on physical education for preschool children

The province has 609 kindergartens, with a total of nearly 87,000 children. Along with improving the quality of childcare, schools also focus on physical education with a variety of activities, helping children develop comprehensively in terms of physical strength, intelligence and personality.

At Nam Lau 1/6 Kindergarten, Nam Lau Commune, physical activities are organized enthusiastically and attractively. In addition to the main physical education hours, children also participate in many folk games such as: Tug of war, hopscotch, boat racing, blindfolded goat catching... Outdoor games combined with exercise equipment such as slides, seesaws, and swings help children be flexible, active, and improve their physical strength.

Ms. Vu Thi Hoa, Principal of Nam Lau 1/6 Kindergarten, said: The school builds a diverse, scientific and safe physical environment, encourages teachers to create tools and toys from recycled materials to serve teaching. Arrange play areas inside and outside the classroom suitable for each age; guide parents to coordinate physical training for children outside of school hours. Thanks to that, the rate of children with normal development in weight and height is always high, with the kindergarten block reaching 96% and the nursery block reaching 95%.

At Chieng Le Kindergarten, To Hieu Ward, is one of the units that effectively implement synchronous physical education . Every day, children participate in outdoor activities, light physical games during transition hours or practice movements such as: throwing balls, balancing, jumping, climbing stairs. Activities are built in accordance with the development characteristics of each age group, helping children form hand-eye coordination skills, enhancing agility and dexterity in movement.

Ms. Cao Thi Thanh Huyen, Vice Principal of Chieng Le Kindergarten, shared: Since the beginning of the school year, the unit has developed a detailed physical education plan, selected appropriate exercise content and mobilized social resources to upgrade facilities, renovate playgrounds, plant trees, and add outdoor toys. Every year, the rate of children with normal weight in the nursery block reaches 97.4%, the kindergarten block reaches 98.7%; the rate of malnutrition, underweight and stunted growth is only 1.8%.

Along with the efforts of schools, the Education and Training sector has implemented many systematic measures to promote physical education for preschool children. Up to now, 100% of preschools in the area have playgrounds that meet the "green - clean - beautiful" standards, 90% of schools are equipped with outdoor equipment and toys. Physical education activities are organized in an integrated, flexible manner, linked to the curriculum and daily recreational activities. Many schools have also built multi-purpose gymnasiums, covered playgrounds; renovated campuses, planted trees, and added multi-purpose equipment for practice. In addition, schools also focus on nutrition, ensuring good physical development needs for children of each age group. Every year, 100% of preschool children are given health check-ups and periodically monitored for nutritional status, the rate of malnourished and overweight children has decreased significantly over each school year.

By focusing on innovating teaching methods, diversifying physical activities, improving facilities and closely coordinating with parents, the quality of physical education in preschools has been significantly improved.
