TPO - As of the morning of September 12th, Chuong My district has 34 villages and hamlets flooded, affecting 2,344 households. Among them, Nam Phuong Tien commune has been completely isolated.

To date, Chuong My district has evacuated 1,296 households with 5,444 people to safe areas. Currently, the district is continuing to evacuate households in flood-affected areas to safe locations.

Tan Tien is one of the communes severely affected by the floods. Speaking to Tien Phong Newspaper on September 12th, Mr. Vu Cong Nam, Chairman of the Tan Tien Commune People's Committee, said that due to the rising water level of the Bui River, two villages in the commune were severely flooded, affecting more than 400 households. Of these, the commune has evacuated over 170 households to safe locations.

According to reporters, the entire Tien Tien village was flooded with water levels ranging from 60cm to 2m. In some areas, the water reached depths of 4-5m. Residents had to use boats to move from within the village to the outside.

The Nga-Luu family's house is located in one of the highest areas of the village, but it was still flooded up to 1 meter deep.

Ms. Nguyen Thi Nga (from Tien Tien village) is cooking rice. She said that the Bui River's water level is rising very quickly. Currently, this year's water level is 40cm higher than the 2018 flood and about 60cm higher than the July 2024 flood.

Mr. Trinh Van Vien (34 years old, Tien Tien village) volunteered to transport reporters and the volunteer team to help people affected by severe flooding. He said that it had been decades since he had seen the Bui River water rise so high. His family had managed to evacuate people and property to a safe place in time.

Mr. Nguyen Tien Hung said that what people in flooded areas like his need most is clean water for daily use.

Ms. Nguyen Thi Mui, Vice Chairman of the People's Committee of Nam Phuong Tien commune, said that due to the severe flooding, all roads leading into the commune have been closed. The photo shows a road from Tan Tien commune to Nam Phuong Tien that has been blocked due to deep flooding.

Ms. Mui stated that in Nam Phuong Tien commune, four villages with over 800 households were flooded. The commune's People's Committee has evacuated all residents to safe temporary shelters.
