Philippe Lazzarini, Director of the United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees (UNRWA), said that UNRWA is at risk of ceasing operations due to a lack of fuel.
Over the past few weeks, UNRWA has repeatedly requested access to fuel, but this request has yet to be resolved. According to Philippe Lazzarini, due to the lack of fuel, UNRWA will be unable to send trucks through the southern Gaza Strip to deliver humanitarian aid.
More than 60 UNRWA facilities in Palestine were attacked, most of them in southern Gaza. UNRWA was established in 1949 to provide humanitarian aid and protection to Palestinian refugees while they await a just and lasting solution to their plight. UNRWA operates in Gaza, the West Bank, Jordan, Lebanon, and Syria.

In a related development, Paltel and Jawwal – the two largest telecommunications providers in the Gaza Strip – announced that all telecommunications services in the densely populated area had ceased operation due to the depletion of all power sources.
The United Nations World Food Programme (WFP) estimates that only 10% of the necessary food supplies have reached the Gaza Strip since the start of the conflict. The region is facing severe food shortages and widespread hunger, with almost the entire population in desperate need of assistance.
According to the WFP, the fuel shortage has also paralyzed distribution and humanitarian operations, including the delivery of food aid. Even when trucks arrive from Egypt and unload goods in the Gaza Strip, the WFP is still unable to reach civilians in shelters due to insufficient fuel for the distribution vehicles.
