According to local residents, at around 8 p.m. the same day, due to the influence of high tides, a 20-meter-long section of the dike collapsed. The Co Chien River overflowed, causing many fruit orchards, mainly mangoes, green-skinned grapefruits, and yellow areca trees, to be deeply submerged. Currently, the landslide still shows signs of spreading, and people are worried that the situation will become more complicated in the coming days of high tides.

Mr. Phan Thanh Minh, Head of Phuoc Ly Nhi Hamlet, Quoi Thien Commune, said that Thanh Long Islet currently has 8 households living with more than 15 hectares of fruit trees. This area often experiences landslides, causing damage to production land and affecting people's livelihoods. In recent times, the government and people have mobilized forces and materials to reinforce the dike many times, but the situation continues to occur. In recent days, due to complicated tides, people have worked together to reinforce more than 400 meters of the dike, however, on the evening of October 23, landslides still occurred, making people very worried.

Faced with the unusually high tides and the risk of further landslides at many points on the dike, on the morning of October 24, local authorities were present to survey and deploy emergency support plans. Local authorities are mobilizing on-site vehicles and materials to promptly and temporarily reinforce the broken locations, while informing and guiding people to proactively respond according to the "4 on-site" motto.

Thanh Long Islet has experienced many serious landslides; notably during the Lunar New Year in 2016 and 2025, causing great damage to productive land. Although it has been reinforced many times, the dyke system still has a high risk of landslides. People living on the islet hope that the authorities will soon have a plan to support and overcome the landslides. In the long term, people hope that the locality needs to have a comprehensive plan to solidify the dyke to protect houses, gardens and stabilize production for people on the islet or consider resettlement arrangements so that people can live and reproduce with peace of mind.
