According to local residents, at around 8 PM on the same day, due to the high tide, a section of the embankment about 20 meters long collapsed. The Co Chien River overflowed, submerging many orchards, mainly mango, pomelo, and betel nut trees. Currently, the collapsed area shows signs of spreading, and residents are concerned that the situation will become more complicated in the coming days of high tides.

Mr. Phan Thanh Minh, Head of Phuoc Ly Nhi Hamlet, Quoi Thien Commune, said that Thanh Long islet currently has 8 households living there with more than 15 hectares of fruit trees. This area frequently experiences landslides, causing damage to agricultural land and affecting people's livelihoods. In the past, the government and people have repeatedly mobilized forces and materials to reinforce the dike, but the situation continues. Recently, due to the complex tidal surge situation, people have jointly reinforced more than 400 meters of dike; however, landslides still occurred on the evening of October 23rd, causing great concern among the residents.

Given the unusually high tides and the risk of further erosion at several points along the embankment, local authorities surveyed the area and implemented emergency response plans on the morning of October 24th. They are mobilizing machinery and local materials to temporarily reinforce damaged sections, while also informing and guiding residents to proactively respond according to the "four on-the-spot" principle.

Thanh Long Island has experienced several serious landslides; notably during the Lunar New Year holidays of 2016 and 2025, causing significant damage to agricultural land. Despite repeated reinforcements, the dike system still poses a high risk of landslides. Residents living on the island hope that the authorities will soon provide support and address the landslide areas. In the long term, residents hope that the local government will develop a comprehensive plan to reinforce the dike system to protect their homes and orchards, stabilize production, or consider relocating them to ensure their peace of mind and continued production.
