After Nguyen Thanh Duy excellently brought home the gold medal in the men's 65kg weight class, another hope is Y Lien who competed quite successfully in the women's 53kg weight class.

In this weight class, Y Lien excellently brought home a silver medal in the clean and jerk when she successfully lifted 106kg in the third round.
The athlete who won the gold medal in this event was weightlifter Park Hae Yon (DPRK) with a result of 107kg.

Vietnam wins first gold medal at 2025 Asian Youth Games
Previously, Y Lien also brought home a bronze medal in the snatch after 3 rounds of competition (2 successful attempts with the highest weight of 82kg). Leading the snatch was weightlifter Pak Hae Yon with a result of 88kg.
After two events of clean and jerk, young athlete Y Lien won the total lift with 188kg, ranking second, while Park Hae Yon ranked first with 195kg.
However, at AYG 2025, in weightlifting, the Organizing Committee only considered the clean and jerk achievements to award medals.
Y Lien's achievements continue to affirm the position and strength of Vietnamese sports - weightlifting in the continental arena at the youth level, while creating favorable psychological momentum for the athletes who will continue to compete in the coming days of competition at AYG 2025.
Up to now, the Vietnamese Sports Delegation has 1 gold medal, 6 silver medals and 7 bronze medals, temporarily ranked 20/36 delegations on the overall ranking.
