Speaking with Dan Tri reporter on the afternoon of January 19, Mr. Dang Ha Viet, Director of the Department of Physical Training and Sports , confirmed that the Department of Physical Training and Sports had sent an invitation letter and worked with former athlete of the national gymnastics team Pham Nhu Phuong on the morning of January 19.
The meeting aimed to listen to athlete Pham Nhu Phuong's thoughts and wishes after her decision to retire when she was not called up to the national team in 2024, as well as to record her accusations about being "deducted" 10% of her medal bonus, bonus money and "dark areas" in the national gymnastics team.

"We believe that athlete Pham Nhu Phuong is a young talent with a lot of potential, who has been trained systematically since childhood, so we regret his decision to retire. At the meeting, we encouraged him to change his decision to retire and continue to contribute to the country's sports.
However, this athlete needs to show determination and effort like before. When ensuring expertise, the national gymnastics team will always welcome and set higher goals for this athlete to aim for," said Mr. Dang Ha Viet.
Regarding concerns that athlete Pham Nhu Phuong will no longer be psychologically comfortable if she agrees to return to training after the accusations of "dark areas" in the national gymnastics team, Mr. Ha Viet added: "First of all, we must recognize the positive aspects of athlete Pham Nhu Phuong's reflection, because if the reflection is correct and good, we must accept it to make changes. Only then can sports be clean and develop forward.
We are still thoroughly examining the accusations of athlete Pham Nhu Phuong to promptly detect and handle loopholes in management, violations in revenue and expenditure, and training environments that do not help athletes develop their abilities.
Even if this athlete develops his skills well, we are willing to invest in training him abroad if the domestic environment is not yet guaranteed."
It is known that also today (January 19), Deputy Minister of Culture, Sports and Tourism Hoang Dao Cuong directly worked with the Hanoi National Sports Training Center, with the coaching staff and athletes of the national gymnastics team to verify the "dark area" content at the national athletes' training place that Dan Tri newspaper has published in recent days.
