"Starting a business must become a successful enterprise" is Quang Nam province's strategy for developing an innovative startup ecosystem.

The leaders of Quang Nam province presented Nguyen Quoc Vuong with a Certificate of Commendation from the Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee for winning first prize at the Innovation and Entrepreneurship Talent Search Competition in the South Central and Central Highlands regions.

The "flame" of entrepreneurship stems from policy mechanisms.

Over the years, Quang Nam province has issued numerous guidelines, mechanisms, and policies, as well as mobilized all resources to launch its startup program, such as promoting support for building an innovation and startup ecosystem in Quang Nam province; and approving the Plan for implementing the "Innovation and Startup Ecosystem in the province, giai đoạn 2018 – 2025".

As one of the businesses benefiting from the policies and support for innovative startups in Quang Nam, Mr. Nguyen Quoc Vuong said that Quang Nam province in general and the Provincial Steering Committee for Supporting Innovative Startups in particular have always been supportive, attentive, and regularly inquired about the situation as well as providing relevant mechanisms to help businesses develop.

On September 22, 2022, the invention "Technological process for treating aquaculture wastewater using Chlorella Vulgaris microalgae combined with biomass recovery by electrolysis, coagulation and flotation" by Mr. Vuong and his colleagues was recognized by the Intellectual Property Office ( Ministry of Science and Technology ).

According to Mr. Vuong, this wastewater treatment project using microalgae won first prize at the Innovation and Entrepreneurship Talent Search Competition for the South Central and Central Highlands regions, held in Khanh Hoa .

In recent times, Quang Nam province has seen many successful startups, such as Mr. Ha Nhat Anh with his LACO project – an application connecting local services; and Ms. Tran Thi Minh Thuy with her freeze-dried yogurt project…

According to Mr. Pham Ngoc Sinh, Deputy Director of the Quang Nam Department of Science and Technology and Head of the Provincial Innovation Startup Steering Committee, Quang Nam officially launched its Innovation Startup Ecosystem in 2017. Despite being a latecomer, Quang Nam has achieved its set targets in a short period of time.

Specifically, in 2020, Quang Nam announced the slogan "Quang Nam – an open land for creative startups" and officially launched its Open Startup Ecosystem. In 2022, the province completed all targets and objectives, finishing three years ahead of schedule, with some targets significantly exceeded. In 2022, the province was honored by the Ministry of Science and Technology as the locality that successfully organized the Creative Startup Festival (TechFest) on an international and national scale, and as the locality that organized the largest TechFest nationwide.

In 2023, Quang Nam organized the Year of Startups and was honored by the National Startup Association as a dynamic and outstanding startup locality. In 2024, it was selected by the Ministry of Science and Technology as one of 16 provinces and cities to be commended for building an innovative startup ecosystem.

The Chairman of the People's Committee of Quang Nam province, Mr. Le Van Dung, affirmed that the province has directed the Steering Committee, the Department of Science and Technology, and requested the Provincial Youth Union, the Provincial Women's Union, etc., to organize the signing of a framework cooperation program until 2025 and specific coordination programs and plans with specialized agencies nationwide to organize activities related to building a creative startup ecosystem in the province.

"Right from the start of the Startup Ecosystem, the Provincial People's Committee has focused on implementing a program in coordination with central agencies, localities, organizations, and experts nationwide to support startups. This aims to mobilize resources and partially socialize funding alongside the state to organize startup support activities in the province, yielding many very important results," Mr. Dung said.

A new journey

To ensure the ecosystem operates according to plan, Quang Nam province also focuses on training experts and lecturers for innovative startups within the province. This includes organizing the National Startup Forum "Linking the Quang Nam Startup Ecosystem in the South," with the participation of provincial leaders, relevant departments, Quang Nam College, and nearly 120 experts, startup mentors, and startups from the province and other southern provinces and cities.

Quang Nam aims to build a dynamic and flexible open startup ecosystem by 2025, with a vision extending to 2030, to strongly connect a network of experts, mentors, and startup support organizations at the national and international levels; and to organize forums and events on entrepreneurship and the development of innovative startup ideas and projects at the regional, national, and international levels under the theme "Quang Nam – an open land for innovative startups".

“From a land open to creative startups to spreading the national entrepreneurial aspiration, it is a journey of commitment, with a proactive mindset and desire to engage in trade to open up opportunities for Quang Nam's development. 2025 marks the end of the initial phase and the beginning of a new journey – a journey of breakthroughs in the “New Era – the era of the nation's rise.”

At the same time, we will conduct surveys and connect the provincial startup community with regional and national startup networks to build and develop a strong startup association model. Startups must become businesses. That is the province's strategy until 2030,” Mr. Sinh emphasized.
