Start-up must become a business

“Once a startup, it must become an enterprise” is the strategy of Quang Nam province on developing an innovative startup ecosystem.

Quang Nam Provincial leaders awarded a Certificate of Merit from the Provincial People's Committee Chairman to Nguyen Quoc Vuong for winning First Prize at the Competition to Search for Innovative Startup Talents in the South Central and Central Highlands Regions.

"Fire" of entrepreneurship from policy mechanisms

In recent years, Quang Nam has issued many policies, mechanisms and strategies as well as mobilized all resources to launch the startup program, such as promoting support for the construction of the Innovation Startup Ecosystem in Quang Nam province; approving the Implementation Plan of the "Innovation Startup Ecosystem in the province, period 2018 - 2025";

implementing Resolution 09/2020/HDND dated November 2, 2020 on regulating the content and level of expenditure to support the construction of an innovative startup ecosystem in Quang Nam province, period 2021-2025...

As one of the businesses that benefited from the policies and support for innovative startups in Quang Nam, Mr. Nguyen Quoc Vuong said that Quang Nam province in general and the Provincial Startup Support Board always accompany, care and regularly inquire about the situation as well as support related mechanisms to help businesses develop.

On September 22, 2022, the invention "Technological process for treating aquaculture wastewater using Chlorella Vulgaris microalgae combined with biomass recovery by electrolysis coagulation - flotation" of Mr. Vuong and his colleagues was recognized by the Department of Intellectual Property ( Ministry of Science and Technology ).

According to Mr. Vuong, this year, the project to treat wastewater using microalgae won first prize at the Competition to Search for Innovative Startup Talents in the South Central and Central Highlands regions, held in Khanh Hoa .

Recently, Quang Nam province has had many successful entrepreneurs such as Mr. Ha Nhat Anh with the LACO project - Application connecting local services; Ms. Tran Thi Minh Thuy with the Freeze-dried Yogurt project...

According to Mr. Pham Ngoc Sinh, Deputy Director of the Department of Science and Technology of Quang Nam, Head of the Provincial Creative Startup Management Board, Quang Nam officially operated the Creative Startup Ecosystem in 2017. Although it is a latecomer province, in a short time, Quang Nam has completed the set targets.

Specifically, in 2020, Quang Nam announced the slogan "Quang Nam - open land for creative startups" and officially operated the Open Startup Ecosystem. In 2022, the province completed all the set targets and goals; reaching the finish line 3 years ahead of schedule; in which, there were targets that exceeded very high. In 2022, the Ministry of Science and Technology honored it as the locality that successfully organized the Creative Startup Festival (TechFest) on an international and national scale and was the locality that organized the largest TechFest nationwide.

In 2023, Quang Nam will organize the Startup Year and be honored by the National Startup Association as a dynamic and excellent startup locality. In 2024, the Ministry of Science and Technology will select it as one of 16 provinces and cities to be honored for building a creative startup ecosystem.

Chairman of the People's Committee of Quang Nam province, Mr. Le Van Dung affirmed that the province directed the Executive Board, the Department of Science and Technology and requested the Provincial Youth Union, the Provincial Women's Union... to organize the signing of the framework cooperation program until 2025 and specific coordination programs and plans with specialized agencies nationwide to organize related activities to build a creative startup ecosystem in the province.

“Since the start-up ecosystem was put into operation, the Provincial People's Committee has focused on implementing a program of coordination with central agencies, localities, organizations, and experts supporting start-ups nationwide to mobilize forces and partly socialize funding with the state to organize start-up support activities in the province, achieving many very important results,” said Mr. Dung.

New Journey

In order for the ecosystem to operate in the right direction, Quang Nam province also focuses on training experts and lecturers of creative startup resources in the province. In particular, the National Startup Forum "Connecting Quang Nam Startup Ecosystem in the South" was organized with the participation of provincial leaders, related sectors, Quang Nam College and nearly 120 experts, startup consultants, startups in the province and southern provinces and cities.

Quang Nam aims to strive by 2025, with a vision to 2030, to build a dynamic and flexible open startup ecosystem to strongly connect the network of experts, consultants, and national and international startup support organizations; organize forums, startup events and develop creative startup ideas and projects at regional, national and international levels under the theme "Quang Nam - open land for creative startups".

“From an open land for creative startups to spreading the national startup aspiration is a journey of dedication, with the mindset and aspiration to proactively trade to open up opportunities for Quang Nam’s development. 2025 is the year that ends the start-up phase and opens a new journey – a journey of breakthrough steps in the “New Era – the era of national growth”.

At the same time, organize surveys and connect the provincial startup community with regional and national startup networks to build and develop a strong startup organization model. Once a startup, it must become an enterprise. That is the province's strategy until 2030," Mr. Sinh emphasized.
