Speaking at the National Assembly discussion session on the morning of October 29, delegate Nguyen Thi Ha ( Bac Ninh province) said that school violence is not just a story between students but becomes more complicated and dangerous when teachers become victims, while parents and students are the ones who cause violence.
The pressure that many teachers are under now is not salary but fear of work. That fear originates from their own working environment. Teachers who are victims of violence live in fear, are vulnerable and gradually lose faith in the value of respecting teachers.
"There are teachers who are afraid to go to class, afraid of being insulted, afraid of harsh reactions from parents or students," she emphasized.

Delegate Nguyen Thi Ha (Bac Ninh province) raised the issue of teachers being victims of school violence.
"School violence incidents are no longer isolated phenomena, not only shocking public opinion but also raising a burning question: Is school discipline gradually being taken lightly?" , Ms. Ha said.
The female delegate said that society tends to push all responsibility to schools, considering preventing violence as the responsibility of teachers, while school violence is not one-sided.
This is the result of the intertwined impact of three pillars: family - school - society. From the family, many parents lack time, lack emotional education skills, cannot control their children's exposure to violent content, and some even display violent behavior in front of their children.
In schools, some places still focus on achievements, not on moral education and life skills, while some teachers lack the skills to manage emotions and handle violent situations. From society, online platforms sometimes glorify violent behavior with views and likes, while the community is indifferent and blames the school.
Delegate Nguyen Thi Ha emphasized that humanity in student discipline can only be effective when guaranteed by a professional school psychology counseling system.
Currently, most schools do not have a team of well-trained counselors; in many places, "school psychology counseling rooms exist in name only", and homeroom teachers have to fend for themselves without being equipped with the necessary skills.
Based on that reality, delegate Ha proposed to regulate the joint responsibility of parents when their children commit serious acts of violence; make parenting skills education and emotional education mandatory in community activities; and each school cluster needs to have at least one well-trained psychologist, along with a quick response mechanism to connect the police, authorities, and medical staff when violence occurs.
Delegates also asked social media platforms to take more responsibility in controlling content of school violence, and to review and evaluate the feasibility of Circular 19 to balance humanity and discipline.
"Education cannot be happy if teachers are insulted, students are abused and both suffer. Happiness in education can only be built on a foundation of discipline, humanity and responsibility," said delegate Ha.
