On July 18, TASS news agency, citing an interview with Russian Ambassador to Germany Sergey Nechaev, reported that the German authorities continue to reject proposals for an international investigation into the September 2022 Nord Stream gas pipeline attack.

Ambassador Nechaev stated: "Despite repeated calls from Russia, the German authorities continue to reject any proposals for an international investigation into the terrorist attacks on Europe's largest energy infrastructure. Germany refers to the ongoing investigation and emphasizes the inability to intervene."
During this time, no official statement has been released that could shed light on the matter. The issue is being pushed forward by all possible means. The date when the investigation is likely to be completed has also not been announced.
The Russian diplomat noted that Denmark and Sweden have closed their own investigations into the incident. Berlin is currently the sole country conducting the investigation into the sabotage of the gas pipeline connecting Russia and Germany.
Meanwhile, Europe's largest economy suffered the most significant losses when the gas pipeline was sabotaged, as it is Moscow's main gas consumer and the continent's gas distribution hub.
"I think investigators have long known who ordered and carried out the biggest terrorist attack on Nord Stream gas infrastructure."
"The traces of such a crime cannot be concealed, especially when the investigating party has all the means of surveillance and intelligence at its disposal," asserted Russian Ambassador to Germany Nechaev.
* The sabotage of Nord Stream was also repeatedly mentioned by Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov on July 17 during a press conference at the United Nations.
The Russian Foreign Minister stated that, following the imposition of sanctions on Russia, Europe began paying an additional 200 billion euros for energy.
"The European economy is currently struggling because it is bearing the brunt of the sanctions. And of course, the Nord Stream gas pipelines, which were intended to continue ensuring the prosperity of the German economy, have been blown up," he emphasized.
