In his opening speech, Vietnamese Ambassador to Brazil Bui Van Nghi emphasized the great historical significance of the Day of Southern Liberation, national reunification, the struggle for national independence and the remembrance and gratitude of President Ho Chi Minh .
“The great victory of Spring 1975 was the result of the desire for peace, the will for independence, self-reliance and the spirit of great national unity of the Vietnamese people after 30 years of fighting to preserve the independence and unification of the Fatherland, under the wise leadership of the Communist Party of Vietnam and the great President Ho Chi Minh. This was not only a victory of the Vietnamese people but also a shining symbol of humanity's love for peace and justice."
Ambassador Bui Van Nghi added that the event is also an opportunity for the Vietnamese people to express their gratitude, acknowledge and deeply appreciate the international solidarity and valuable support of friendly and fraternal countries, humanitarian, peace and anti-war organizations, democratic and progressive movements, and peace-loving people around the world, including people from Asian, African and Latin American countries who have stood side by side to support and help Vietnam during the years of national liberation struggle, as well as during the period of national reconstruction after the war and in the cause of Renovation, international integration, building and defending the Fatherland today.
Ambassador Bui Van Nghi also reviewed Vietnam's outstanding achievements after 50 years of unification and nearly 40 years of Doi Moi. From a war-torn country, Vietnam has today risen to become a dynamic economy with prestige and responsibility in the international community. Vietnam "has never had such a foundation, potential and international position as it does today."
Ambassador Bui Van Nghi affirmed that the victory of Spring 1975 was a victory for all humanity who love peace and justice. |
For Vietnam to become the fourth largest economy in ASEAN and the 32nd in the world; to be among the top 20 countries in international trade, "we will forever remember the immense merit of President Ho Chi Minh - the beloved leader of the Vietnamese people, the one who directly founded, led and trained the Communist Party of Vietnam, the one who read the Declaration of Independence giving birth to the Democratic Republic of Vietnam - now the Socialist Republic of Vietnam, the founding father, who directed the building and development of the heroic Vietnam People's Army of the heroic Vietnamese Nation", the Ambassador affirmed.
Vietnam will continue to adhere to the path that President Ho Chi Minh, the Communist Party of Vietnam and the Vietnamese people have chosen, building a "prosperous and happy" socialist Vietnam, a Vietnam with "rich people, strong country, democratic, fair and civilized society", standing shoulder to shoulder with the world powers as Uncle Ho always wished.
In an emotional speech, Deputy Minister Saboia expressed his admiration for the resilient spirit of the Vietnamese people: "Today's event is a vivid testament to the deep friendship between the two countries. The historic State visit of President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva to Vietnam in March opened a new chapter in the Strategic Partnership between the two countries, with the goal of increasing bilateral trade turnover to 15 billion USD by 2030."
According to the Deputy Minister, it is the legacy of Vietnam's reunification that reminds us that courage and solidarity can conquer all difficulties, to build a future of peace and prosperity. Representing the community of Brazilian friends who love Vietnam, ABRAVIET Secretary General Pedro de Oliveira shared his profound views on the ideology of Ho Chi Minh - a figure he called "the moral and revolutionary beacon of the 20th century": "President Ho Chi Minh is the embodiment of the harmonious combination between East and West, between tradition and revolution. He crossed seemingly indelible boundaries to unite humanity with compassion, intelligence and the desire for freedom."
Secretary General Pedro de Olivera assessed that President Ho Chi Minh was a symbol of the struggle against Western colonialism of oppressed peoples, and at the same time a person with a deep understanding of Western culture. Born into a patriotic intellectual family of peasant origin, he grew up in an environment rich in patriotism and the spirit of fighting against foreign invaders.
He quoted President Ho Chi Minh: “Confucius, Jesus, Marx and Sun Yat-sen – all want the best for humanity. If they were still alive, they would have been good friends.”

Over the past 50 years, Vietnam and Guyana have always maintained, strengthened and developed a good relationship of friendship and cooperation. With joint efforts and untapped potential and advantages, Vietnam and Guyana can fully enhance substantive and effective cooperation in many areas with strengths and complementary needs such as agriculture, mining, oil and gas, human resource training and people-to-people exchange. |
