Dak Lak allows students in many localities to take 3 days off to avoid storm Kalmaegi

(Dan Tri) - In order to ensure absolute safety for students and teachers and limit damage caused by storm No. 13, the Department of Education and Training of Dak Lak province has allowed students in schools in coastal communes and wards to have 3 days off from school.

On November 4, information from the Department of Education and Training (GD&DT) of Dak Lak, the unit has just issued an official dispatch for students to stay home from school to prevent the effects of storm Kalmaegi (storm number 13).

Accordingly, the Department of Education and Training requested the People's Committees of communes, wards and units under the Department to allow preschool children, pupils and students in coastal localities to have a day off from school from the afternoon of November 5 to the end of November 7.

Wards and communes that allow students to stay home from school include: Song Cau, Xuan Dai, Binh Kien, Tuy Hoa, Phu Yen , Hoa Hiep, Xuan Loc, Xuan Canh, Tuy An Bac, Tuy An Dong, O Loan, Tuy An Nam, Hoa Xuan, Xuan Tho, Dong Xuan and Phu Mo.

Schools are required to regularly keep in touch with parents and local authorities in managing and ensuring student safety during school breaks and organizing make-up classes, ensuring program content at appropriate times.

The Dak Lak Department of Education and Training requested the People's Committees of communes and wards to direct educational institutions in the area to closely monitor the storm's developments and promptly inform students, teachers, and workers under their management to raise vigilance and ensure safety of life and property.

Educational establishments are required to urgently inspect and reinforce structures at risk of being unsafe; coordinate with units to trim trees in schools, check sewer systems and power grids to ensure safety; prepare plans to evacuate students and teachers to safe places; and relocate documents and equipment before storms and floods occur.

At the same time, schools must proactively develop plans for online teaching or postpone school schedules during complicated stormy days; heads of educational institutions must proactively report to ask for opinions on allowing students to take time off from school in accordance with regulations.

After the storm, schools urgently carried out general cleaning, disinfection, and cleaning of classrooms, and checked the electricity, water, and facilities systems to ensure absolute safety before resuming classes.
