That is the latest statistical figure announced by the Central Organizing Committee of the Communist Party of China on June 30, according to the Chinese Youth newspaper.
The Communist Party of China has more than 99 million members as of December 2023, according to data released by the Organization Department of the Communist Party of China Central Committee on June 30.
The data showed that the number of female party members increased by 88,300 to 30.185 million, accounting for 30.4% of party members, while the number of party members from ethnic minority groups accounted for 7.7%, increasing by 14,700 in 2023, to a total of 7.59 million.
The new data also showed that the number of party members under 30 years old fell to 12.41 million, down 0.18% from 2022. The decline was much slower than the previous year, when the proportion of young party members fell 1.5% from 2021, according to the South China Morning Post .
Also according to new data, 55.78 million Chinese Communist Party members have a university degree or above, an increase of 2.13 million people.
Chinese General Secretary andPresident Xi Jinping on June 26 sent congratulations to party members across the country, ahead of the 103rd anniversary of the founding of the Communist Party of China.
Xi stressed that "comprehensive and strict governance over the party" must be maintained to promote party building in the new era, and the party's organization needs to be efficient, emphasizing centralized and unified leadership.
Mr. Xi also emphasized that grassroots party organizations also need to be reformed to strengthen the party's ability to govern at the local level. Information technology and the internet need to be applied to party building to achieve comprehensive coverage of the organization, according to the South China Morning Post .
