(NLDO) - From the night of March 28, the North and North Central regions will receive increased cold air, the weather will turn cold, with some mountainous areas experiencing severe cold.

According to the Center for Hydro-Meteorological Forecasting, a cold air mass is currently moving south.

It is expected that from the afternoon and night of March 28, cold air will affect the Northeast, North Central and some places in the Northwest, then spread to other places in the Northwest and some places in the Central Central.

Due to the influence of cold air, the North and North Central regions are turning cold, with some mountainous areas experiencing severe cold.

Specifically, in the North, the temperature is generally 15-18 degrees Celsius, in the highlands it is below 13 degrees. In the North Central region, it is 17-19 degrees. In the Hanoi area, it is 16-18 degrees. This cold spell will last until early April 2025.

From the night of March 28, the mountainous areas of the North and North Central regions will have scattered showers and thunderstorms in some places. Risk of tornadoes, lightning, hail, and strong gusts of wind.

At sea, from the afternoon of March 28, the wind in the Gulf of Tonkin will change to Northeast level 6, gusting to level 7-8, rough seas, and waves 2-3 m high. The sea area north of the North East Sea will have strong Northeast wind of level 6-7, gusting to level 8, rough seas, and waves 3-5 m high.

Currently, on March 27, the weather is still locally hot in many places across the country. The area from Nghe An to Hue City is hot with the highest temperature commonly ranging from 35-37 degrees Celsius, some places above 37 degrees, the lowest relative humidity commonly 50-60%. The Southeast region is hot with the highest temperature commonly ranging from 35-36 degrees, the lowest relative humidity commonly 50-55%; the Northwest region of the North and the Central Highlands region is locally hot.

In Hanoi, on March 27, the lowest temperature is 21-23 degrees, the highest temperature is 27-30 degrees. Cloudy, sometimes rain in the morning; sunny in the afternoon; scattered showers in the evening and at night.

From March 29, the heat wave will end in the area from Nghe An to Hue and the Southeast region.
