At the 2024 AFF Cup, Nguyen Quang Hai and his teammates remained undefeated (5 wins, 1 draw). In the group stage, the Vietnamese team defeated Laos, Indonesia, and Myanmar, and drew with the Philippines to top Group B. Facing Singapore in the semi-finals, coach Kim Sang-sik's team won 2-0 in the first leg away from home.

Returning to their home ground in Viet Tri ( Phu Tho ), the Vietnamese team maintained their form to prevent their opponents from turning the tide. A brace from Nguyen Xuan Son and a goal from Nguyen Tien Linh helped the home team win 3-1 (5-1 on aggregate) to secure their place in the final.

Vietnam's opponent will be either Thailand or the Philippines. After the first leg, the Philippines temporarily holds the advantage with a 2-1 victory. However, in the second leg, Thailand will play at home at the Rajamangala Stadium (Bangkok, Thailand). The match will take place at 8 PM tomorrow (December 30th).

The Vietnam Football Federation (VFF) has confirmed that the first leg of the 2024 AFF Cup final will be held at Viet Tri Stadium (Phu Tho province). Therefore, the Vietnamese national team will not play at My Dinh Stadium throughout the entire tournament. This marks the first time the Vietnamese national team has played an international tournament final at Viet Tri Stadium.
