The Vietnamese team received a total bonus of 1.5 billion VND for reaching the final of the AFF Cup 2024. Of which, the sponsor of the Vietnam Football Federation (VFF) donated 1 billion VND. Businessman Nguyen Van De, former chairman of Thanh Hoa club, donated 500 million VND.
The Vietnamese team completed the assigned target at the AFF Cup 2024, which was to reach the final of the tournament. Coach Kim Sang-sik and his team defeated Singapore in the semi-finals with a total score of 5-1 after 2 matches. Thus, in 4 consecutive AFF Cups since 2018, the Vietnamese team has reached the final 3 times (2018, 2022, 2024).

At the 2024 AFF Cup, Nguyen Quang Hai and his teammates have not lost any matches (won 5 matches, drew 1 match). In the group stage, the Vietnamese team defeated Laos, Indonesia and Myanmar, and drew with the Philippines to top Group B. Facing Singapore in the semi-finals, coach Kim Sang-sik and his team won 2-0 in the first leg away match.
Returning to their home stadium Viet Tri ( Phu Tho ), the Vietnamese team maintained their form to prevent their opponents from turning the tables. A brace from Nguyen Xuan Son and a goal from Nguyen Tien Linh helped the home team win 3-1 (5-1 overall) to qualify for the final.
Vietnam's opponents will be Thailand or the Philippines. After the first leg, the Philippines temporarily holds the advantage thanks to a 2-1 victory. However, in the second leg, Thailand will play at home at Rajamangala Stadium (Bangkok, Thailand). The match will take place at 8pm tomorrow (December 30).
The Vietnam Football Federation (VFF) confirmed that the first leg of the AFF Cup 2024 final will be held at Viet Tri Stadium (Phu Tho). Thus, the Vietnamese team will not play at My Dinh Stadium throughout the entire tournament. This is the first time the Vietnamese team has played an international final at Viet Tri Stadium.
