Promoting the pioneering role of Vietnamese and Chinese media and press agencies

The press conference was attended by representatives from leading Chinese media management agencies and dozens of key media outlets, along with reporters and scholars from central and local levels.

On April 28th, amidst the nationwide solemn celebration of the 50th anniversary of the Liberation of Southern Vietnam and National Reunification (April 30, 1975 - April 30, 2025), and while Vietnam and China are actively coordinating activities to commemorate the 75th anniversary of diplomatic relations and the Vietnam-China Humanitarian Exchange Year 2025, the Vietnamese Embassy in China organized a press conference attended by representatives from leading Chinese media management agencies, dozens of key media outlets, and a team of journalists and scholars from central and local levels.

Speaking at the event, Vietnamese Ambassador to China Pham Thanh Binh proudly introduced the outstanding achievements in Vietnam's socio -economic development and foreign relations after 40 years of implementing reforms and opening up; as well as the key priorities of the Party and the country towards a new era, an era of national progress, successfully achieving the two strategic goals by 2030 and 2045.

Regarding Vietnam-China relations, Ambassador Pham Thanh Binh stated that the relationship between the two Parties and two countries has seen strong, comprehensive, and remarkable development in many areas in recent times. The historic reciprocal visits of the top leaders of the two Parties and two countries have provided strong impetus to promote the healthy and stable development of bilateral relations, in line with each country's development goals and the common aspirations of the two peoples.

In 2024, bilateral trade continued to reach new highs, exceeding US$200 billion. Vietnam has now become China's fourth largest trading partner globally . China has risen to become the third largest foreign investor in Vietnam, with a total registered capital of US$4.732 billion. In addition, people-to-people exchanges, tourism cooperation, and cultural exchanges between the two countries are thriving.

Ambassador Pham Thanh Binh affirmed the significance and important results of the recent State visit to Vietnam by General Secretary and President of China Xi Jinping. During the visit, high-ranking leaders from both sides engaged in in-depth strategic discussions, providing important directions for the stable and healthy development of bilateral relations; and agreed on key directions, measures, and contents to promote cooperation in various fields in the coming period.

The visit marked a new milestone in the friendly neighborly relations, the comprehensive strategic partnership, and the shared future of Vietnam and China, which holds strategic significance. The rich results achieved during the visit will create a solid foundation for promoting comprehensive cooperation between the two countries, commensurate with the new level of bilateral relations.

Ambassador Pham Thanh Binh stated that in the coming period, Vietnam and China will closely coordinate to effectively implement the high-level common understanding, promoting cooperation in all fields, including maintaining regular exchanges of delegations and contacts at high levels and other levels; elevating substantive cooperation in key areas, creating many new "bright spots" of cooperation; strengthening people-to-people exchanges, consolidating a solid social foundation for building a Vietnam-China Community of Shared Future; maintaining close coordination, cooperation and mutual support in multilateral mechanisms and forums of which both countries are members; coordinating to effectively manage the land border, better control and resolve disagreements, and jointly maintain peace and stability at sea.

Ambassador Pham Thanh Binh took the time to interact, exchange ideas, and answer questions from reporters and scholars regarding the situation in Vietnam and upcoming priorities in promoting bilateral relations.

Affirming the important role of the media and press agencies of both countries in consolidating a solid social foundation for bilateral relations, Ambassador Pham Thanh Binh expressed his hope that in the future, the press of both sides will continue to be a core force and a pioneering bridge in conveying positive messages about the situation in each country as well as about the comprehensive friendship and cooperation between Vietnam and China, contributing to strengthening mutual understanding and respect, expanding substantive and mutually beneficial cooperation, promoting the continued strong development of Vietnam-China relations, and making positive contributions to maintaining peace and stability in the region and the world, and the progress of humanity.
