DIFF 2025 and Da Nang fireworks season have many "firsts" in history

Considered the most dramatic and largest international fireworks festival in history, DIFF 2025 has truly brought unprecedented surprises to the audience, helping Da Nang deserve the title of "fireworks capital of Vietnam".

Largest scale

DIFF 2025 is the largest international fireworks festival ever held in Da Nang. Accordingly, the increase from 5 to 6 competition nights with a total of 8 to 10 competing teams has turned DIFF 2025 into the "longest in history" fireworks season, lasting nearly 2 months, from May 31 to July 12, 2025. Participating teams are from Asia and Europe, making DIFF a truly global festival.

“No other country has up to 10 fireworks teams competing like this. I believe it is absolutely possible to propose to put DIFF 2025 into the Guinness Book of Records” – Ms. Nadia Shakira Wong, CEO of Global 2000, the world's leading fireworks consulting company, affirmed that with its scale, DIFF is absolutely capable of winning the Guinness Book of Records.

Not only that, DIFF will also be held in 2025 – the 50th anniversary of the liberation of Da Nang city with the theme “Da Nang – The New Rising Era”. Accordingly, DIFF 2025 carries the message of the transition of the era, affirming the city’s aspirations and determination in the new period, with a vision of prosperous development and efforts to mark Da Nang’s position on the international tourism map.

The exam season with the most surprises

DIFF 2025 is considered the most unpredictable and dramatic fireworks season, when all competition nights have "unknowns".

Team Z121 Vina Pyrotech, representing Vietnam, stunned all viewers with its lighting effects and fireworks never seen before in the history of DIFF. In particular, the team's final performance with the song "Like having Uncle Ho on the happy day of great victory" and fireworks shaped like the Vietnamese national flag made the entire audience burst into emotion. Thanks to its excellent performance, for the first time in 13 years of organization, Z121 Vina Pyrotech helped a representative from Vietnam enter the final round of DIFF.

Newcomers like Korea and Portugal also took the audience from one surprise to another with their new “playing style”, never seen before at DIFF. With their strength in music, the two teams led the audience on a roller coaster of emotions with fireworks performances and music that seemed to blend together. It felt like the whole audience was immersed in a passionate concert, with lights and electronic instruments and choirs.

Another “unknown” is the team from the UK, with the number of fireworks up to 8,000, the most among the teams participating in DIFF. Exploding with the final performance, the audience was breathless for 5 minutes when the sky of Da Nang was continuously lit up by hundreds of fireworks with opera music.

2025 can also be seen as a year when social networks are “covered” by fireworks, when DIFF really conquers the audience. Thousands of clips about the emotions when watching fireworks from the stands, or bursting into tears by the final fireworks of the competing teams from different corners of the city have created an online phenomenon, when the videos receive thousands of likes and shares.

Another surprise of this year’s DIFF is the appearance of Sky AR augmented reality technology. With a coverage of up to 600,000m² and nearly 10 million pixels, this is the largest outdoor AR system ever seen at a cultural and tourism event in Vietnam. Da Nang’s iconic symbols such as the Golden Bridge, Marble Mountains, etc. appear vividly in the night sky, combined with real light to create a completely new layer of visual emotion, alongside brilliant fireworks displays.

“DIFF is being organized more and more professionally, not only Vietnam but also other participating countries are surprised and impressed by the scale of DIFF. For me, DIFF has reached an international scale and preparation level,” Major General Nguyen Duc Trinh - Chairman of the Vietnam Musicians Association, member of the DIFF 2025 Jury, proudly commented.

Record number of visitors

2019 was a memorable year for DIFF, when the Da Nang International Fireworks Festival made an explosive mark by attracting nearly 1 million visitors to the city of the Han River in 1 month of organization. At that time, DIFF was praised by domestic and international media as a "magnet" attracting visitors to Da Nang, helping the city achieve a number of visitors exceeding expectations.

By 2025, when the final night has not yet taken place, the announced number of accommodation establishments in Da Nang city serving an estimated 1.17 million visitors, an increase of 10.3% compared to the same period in 2024. Of which, the first 5 fireworks nights alone attracted nearly 400,000 visitors, equivalent to the total number of visitors to DIFF 2024. Just like that, after each organization, DIFF helps Da Nang surpass its own record milestones.

Ahead of the finals, many high-end accommodations have reported “full rooms”, predicting that the entire city will reach 90-95% occupancy during this peak season. In particular, room occupancy at 4-5 star hotels, in central and coastal areas, with beautiful views of fireworks, can reach 100%.

“DIFF in the next 5 years will not only be an art event, but also a new growth engine for the night-time economy, tourism and the city’s brand, in line with the vision of developing Da Nang in a green – smart – modern direction, positioning the city’s cultural brand on the regional and international map, contributing to building the image of Da Nang as “The City of Events and Festivals”, said Ms. Nguyen Thi Anh Thi – Vice Chairman of the Da Nang People’s Committee. With Ms. Thi’s comments, it is completely possible to expect that DIFF in the following years will have many more “bests”.
