Participating in the 14th National Ethnic Minority Sports Competition, Region I in 2025 held in Thai Nguyen province, Lai Chau Provincial Sports Delegation competed impressively, won 19 medals of all kinds and was honored to receive the "Unit with Outstanding Achievements" Flag from the Organizing Committee. At the same time, Lai Chau officially received the Flag to host the 15th Competition in 2027.

From November 26 to December 6, 2025, in Thai Nguyen province, the 14th National Ethnic Minority Sports Festival, Region I, 2025 took place with the participation of nearly 400 athletes, from 13 delegations from provinces and cities in the region from Thua Thien Hue and above; competing in 07 sports.

Athletes of Lai Chau Provincial Sports Delegation competed with determination in the Tug of War event.

Lai Chau Provincial Sports Delegation led by Mr. Tran Van Cong - Deputy Director of the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism , attended the Competition with 22 members, including 18 athletes and 04 officers and coaches; participating in 06/07 competitions: Crossbow shooting, Stick pushing, Tug of war, Jaw throwing, Con throwing and Cross country. With serious preparation, reasonable tactics and determined competitive spirit, Lai Chau athletes excellently won 02 Gold medals, 06 Silver medals and 11 Bronze medals, ranked in the group of delegations with outstanding achievements at the Competition.

Lai Chau Provincial Sports Delegation competed excellently and achieved impressive results at the Tournament.

Recognizing the results achieved, the Organizing Committee awarded the "Unit with Excellent Achievements" Flag to the Lai Chau Provincial Sports Delegation at the Closing Ceremony, affirming the increasingly solid position of Lai Chau sports in the national sports arena for ethnic minorities.

The Organizing Committee awarded the "Unit with Excellent Achievements" Flag to 5 Outstanding Units with high achievements, including Lai Chau Delegation at the Closing Ceremony.

At the closing ceremony, the Organizing Committee performed the ceremony of handing over the Flag to host the 15th Competition in 2027 in Lai Chau province. Accordingly, the next National Ethnic Minority Sports Competition will be held in Lai Chau province in 2027. Notably, the 2027 Competition is expected to not be divided into regions, but will gather provinces and cities with ethnic minorities nationwide, competing centrally in Lai Chau. This is an opportunity for the province to promote culture, ethnic identity, natural landscapes and tourism potential; at the same time, affirming its capacity to organize national-scale sports events.

Comrade Tran Van Cong - Deputy Director of the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism of Lai Chau province received the Flag to host the 15th Competition in 2027 from the representative of the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism of Thai Nguyen province.

The achievements at the 2025 Competition continue to show the right development of the mass sports movement among ethnic minorities in Lai Chau province, contributing to preserving and promoting traditional cultural values ​​associated with physical education and sports activities.

The Organizing Committee awarded First, Second and Third prizes to the excellent competing teams.
