Suoi Tien originates from the eastern slope of Hong Linh, winding through the rocky rapids and then merging into Thien Tuong Lake. It is this source that has contributed to creating the appearance of the lake with an area of about 10 hectares, a capacity of nearly 850,000 m³, always green, clear and cool.
The lake is not only a place to store water for the Hong Linh area, but also opens up a spacious space, making the landscape more harmonious. Therefore, the people here often compare Suoi Tien and Thien Tuong Lake as a pair of companions, a small stream giving birth to a legendary story, a large lake embracing the beauty of the mountains and forests.
The name Suoi Tien is associated with a familiar legend. The ancients said that, long ago, fairies from the sky often came down to the Hong Linh range, choosing this clear stream to bathe and play. After each time, the smooth traces on the rocks remained, the water shimmered as if polished by a magical hand. From that story, the people named the stream Suoi Tien, and then passed it down through many generations as part of the common memory of the homeland.
Nowadays, when coming to Suoi Tien, visitors can walk along the clear stream flowing between the two banks of lush trees, listening to the sound of the stream mixed with the sound of the wind. On summer days, this place becomes a familiar picnic spot for many families and groups of young people, bringing a feeling of relaxation in the middle of nature. When autumn comes, yellow leaves fall on the water surface, the scene evokes a bit of nostalgia, like a classical painting imbued with the breath of legend.
Ms. Nguyen Thi Kim Oanh, a resident of Bac Hong Linh ward, shared that almost every week she and her friends go to Suoi Tien for a picnic. “It is cool and quiet here, we can sit for hours by the water to chat. Listening to adults tell stories about fairies, I feel like the stream has a legendary breath that cannot be found anywhere else,” Ms. Oanh said.
The precious thing is that Suoi Tien does not exist separately but is part of the Hong Linh landscape system, where there is also Huong Tich Pagoda, Chieu Trung Temple or many relics associated with history. It is this connection that makes every step to Suoi Tien open up a wider journey of discovery , with both nature, culture and beliefs.
The elderly here often tell their children and grandchildren about Suoi Tien as a source of pride for their homeland. For them, the stream is not only a place associated with childhood memories but also a testament to the persistence of nature through the changes of time. The younger generation, on weekends, come here and feel Suoi Tien as a peaceful rendezvous after the hustle and bustle of life.
Fairy Stream and Thien Tuong Lake have long been in the minds of Hong Linh people as an indispensable part of their homeland. The stream is associated with the legend of fairies, the lake stretches halfway up the mountain, all blending into a picture that is both real and legendary.
For many people, this is a place to find relaxation, as well as a place to preserve memories and pride in the land of Hong Mountain and Lam River. And then, each step stopping by the stream or the lake is like another reminder that nature still exists to support and enrich the human soul.
