Speaking to the press on September 4, National Assembly member Park Hyeong Soo said: "The Vietnam Village Development Project" in Bonghwa Commune is one of two projects in North Kyungsang Province that will be included in next year's government budget.
Accordingly, the projects that the locality has implemented over the past 3 years include: The project to establish a center for experiencing and developing Korean-Vietnamese cultural and historical content and expanding and paving the road to Baekdudaegan Arboretum has been reflected in the 2024 budget. The first expenditure from the budget is about 200 million won.
The North Kyungsang Provincial Government and Bonghwa-myeon are working closely with the central government to adjust project items and seek funding to cover the budget shortfall.
Initially, the Bonghwa Vietnamese Village Development Project was promoted as a local project, but the Kyungsang Provincial Government and Bonghwa Township have been lobbying to transform and expand the project into a national project. The inclusion of the project in the 2024 budget will pave the way for its transformation into a national project.
In the context of the Korean Government 's 2024 budget draft having the lowest increase in nearly 20 years, the fact that the proposed items of the Vietnam Village project have been included is a very encouraging signal.
Local authorities are coordinating with the central government and the National Assembly to supplement and amend project items to suit the scale of the national project.
In a related development, on September 22, the musical "Li Long Xiang" hosted by Bonghwa village in collaboration with the World Confucian Culture Foundation will officially be performed on a special stage at Naeseong stream in Bonghwa village.
The performance of the self-composed musical was part of Vietnam Day . This is one of the local government's efforts to promote the Vietnamese village development project in Bonghwa-myeon, which focuses on promoting harmony and exchange with multicultural families in the area.
The Ho Chi Minh City National University Art Troupe was invited to perform the musical. Meanwhile, singer Seung Guk, who has appeared in many popular TV shows such as Mr. Trot 2 and King of Mask Singer, was chosen to play the main character Prince Ly Long Tuong, further increasing public interest and expectations.
