Currently, the Vietnam Pepper and Spice Association (VPSA) encourages farmers to improve the quality of pepper right from the planting stage, while businesses need to invest in deep and clean processing. At the same time, expand products and markets to penetrate the global pepper supply chain.
After a period of high prices, the domestic pepper market is currently falling sharply, with prices fluctuating around 145,000 - 146,000 VND/kg, down 5,000 - 6,000 VND/kg depending on the region.
According to VPSA, Vietnam currently has about 200 pepper processing enterprises, of which 15 enterprises account for 70% of export volume, with 14 deep processing factories. Along with that, 5 foreign-invested enterprises account for nearly 30% of the export market share. Vietnam's pepper processing technology has now met international standards, creating diverse products such as black pepper, white pepper, ground pepper and small packages.

According to experts, the recent decline in domestic pepper prices is due to weak purchasing demand from businesses and traders. In addition, the amount of pepper in stock among people is currently very low, mainly concentrated in business warehouses. This may stabilize pepper prices in the short term but it is difficult to exceed the 150,000 VND/kg mark before Tet.
In the international market, pepper prices in Indonesia have slightly decreased after a recent increase. Meanwhile, pepper prices in Vietnam, Brazil and Malaysia remain stable. Experts predict that consumption demand in major markets such as the US, EU and China will support pepper prices in the medium term.
Despite the current drop in pepper prices, the outlook for the 2025 crop in Vietnam is positive thanks to favorable weather conditions. If high yields and good quality are maintained, the Vietnamese pepper industry will continue to assert its position in the international market.
